BTW Boon used an old tactic. By taking yr cash, they secure the sale without delivering the goods. Its like futures trading, except you lose. In the meanwhile you can't bring yr business elsewhere.

True. Plus while you wait for delivery, the seller earns interest on the money you paid him (which you would have otherwise earned had you kept your money in the bank).

ullyss, just call ur credit card to dispute the item sales. An investigation will ensue and you can just tell them that you were promised delivery on friday which did not happen. Then call CASE as well and write to The Straits Times forums about this sales tactics. Write to Canon Japan to alert them of this practice. If you are prepared, go all the way. ;) I dont think anyone will want bad publicity just for a cheap 30D.

Until lemon laws and consumer rights happen in spore (happening soon.... or so I heard).... retailers will continue to strong arm the buyers. So much so that I can see a generation of buyers conditioned to play along with these tactics.;p

since you pay by CC you can call the CC hotline to cancel it. :)

No you cannot call CC hotline to cancel, the merchant has to willingly refund back the money. You CAN however, explain the situation to the bank and see how they can help you.

When you dispute the payment, the CC will need to start an investigation.;p
The merchant does not get the cash immediately....:nono:

Depending on the bank that issued the CC, some will go thro' great lengths to protect its CC owners.

I agree, file a dispute with the Credit Card company on the basis of non-delivery/fraud.

The S$100 only applies if you cancel the installation plan after it has commenced, ie early repayment.

In the meantime, do send an email to Boon Electronics to inform them that their name is going down among the largest photographic community in Singapore.

inform Canon, Boon electronics is actually claiming fault with Canon which is rubbish. Canon could sue Boon.

call ur credit card company to dispute the item sales as you did not receive anything.

And do report case.

At least over here no one will buy anything from Boon electronics.

Just call the CC.
the CC companies should be able to revert all the money, and shouldn't charge you any fees. This is something like fraud mah. It's like internet banking.. if you pay, the guy don't send the goods, the money will be taken back... :)

You don't even need to go to the head office.
Unless of course, you paid cash already..

*edit: Oh right.. Seems like alot of bros here already said the same thing.. What are you waiting for? :P

well alot of options are open to you.. just don't give up, seek redress to the best of ur ability. good luck!!!  :)

i do know of a couple of friends who have succeeded in cases where the consumer was really left at the deep end, but managed to get a full refund, even when the product was used. as in they had owned it for a few months. in ur case, u paid and didn't even get the product, needless to say, u have a strong case!

I paid for the whole camera with my credit card and then they tell me I have to collect my camera on friday as they have run out of stock. Fair enough, maybe it is the first day.

...

Bad bad call Boon Electronics as a well known distributor. And shame on Canon for not living up to their supposed service standard.

...

I urge you all not to buy any products from the IT with this distributor and Canon because they lied and did not fufill their promise.

Your plight is reall and you deserve our sympathy, but only to a certain extend. I would have immediately demanded to cancel my purchase on Thursday when Boon was not able to give you the 30D. It sounded fishy, it's looked fishy, it was smelling like 3 days old rotten fish. You still went for it. I am wondering why and how? Did you not even tested out the exact 30D you were suppose to buy before you sign for it with your credit card?

You do have a case. The contract is for your Credit Card company to pay Boon in exchange for the 30D Boon were to sell you, right there and then, not sometime in undetermined future. Since delivery of the product was not completed, I believe the contract was voided. Go to your Credit Card company and dispute the Boon's charge. Further you must go complain to Canon.

Talking about Canon, you did have my sympathy until you lashed out against Canon. How did Canon's service did not live up to your expectation? How did Canon lie to you? Did Canon guaranty to you that you will have a 30D in hand on Thursday? You were gullible and got conned by Boon, not Canon. YOu sounded like an old aunty.

Hi ullyss,

I know you are mad, I know you are angry but it is not Canon's fault. I always find Canon had been providing good support to their customers.

If you still insist that Canon should be responsible for Boon Electronics's mistake. You might want to consider writing in to Cqnon http://www.canon.com.sg/index.cfm?fuseaction=contactus&prod_type=contactus under the following section

Have a Feedback or a Complaint

Can’t get your message across or simply upset with a service lapse. He is the man to call and talk to.

Freddie Fun is Canon Singapore’s Director of Service Recovery. He will roll up his sleeve, channel the queries to the right department or put right anything that has gone wrong. That’s his level of dedication.

By the way, I don't work for Canon, just voice out my personal view only. I am just a newbie using Canon camera. By the way, I usually buy from CP which so far does not have any problem at all.

So ur point being other den ur bad experience?

None of us here work at CASE except to feel sorry for ur bad experience, I suppose we can't do anything abt it.

U might get a better response if u complained directly to CASE. They will sympathise & take action for u.

duh.... to warn other people lah!! what happen if someone else need the camera urgently and went to buy the 30D. End of the month is quite long....

Thanks for the warning..

i always believe in paying and getting the goods at the same time.
thanks for ur post, and hope u get a resolution over ur money soon

I was told that mine is the last 30D in the stock by the sales person last night around 7pm.
I tought I was so late and actually it seems like really the last piece.

Call to Canon. They may raise the priority for your shipment and you may get more free gifts or discount vounchers. You might not be able to get the full refund if you have already collected the free gift.

Always see the set first before paying the money. If not, you will have to wait for it for nothing! And there is interest loss after you have paid up the full sum! ;)

give the poor guy a break lah. at least those of us who are planning to buy something from the vendor would now know we should be more cautious.
Well, bad sellers aside. His thread title's "Bad Experience IT SHOW - dont buy Canon 30D"?

We all understand that he's really fustrated, needing a camera for a trip and getting nothing but hot air and red tape frm the distributor eventually. But.... DON'T BUY CANON 30D? I honestly dun see the point of 'almost' calling a 'boycott' of a product when the bad experience is solely between the retailer & the buyer and not the camera.

So what's that abt faulting Canon? :dunno: Blaming the production line ppl for not producing enuff to meet the demand (or specifically the chap's demand) for 30Ds? Might as well blame the R&D ppl for coming up with the 30D or the R&D's parents for giving them their brains to come up with such a wonderful camera, whilst he's at it, might as well blame the parent's parents and so on.

We could see he's letting steam off, we all do that frm time to time. But fire the bombs and artillery at the correct target - the retailer, not the wrong target 'in a moment of sheer anger'. If we keep hitting wrong targets 'in a spur of a moment to let go steam', we would all be dead by now.

amen to dat. to be fair, canon's not entirely responsible for this fiasco cos they just supply the cams to Boon Electronics to sell. obviously, the consignment given to them is a very small batch. hence, to rack up sales, i suspect they tried to pull this stunt.

ullyss, suggest u take up deadpoet's advice of calling ur credit card company to cancel payment. IIRC, boon electronics is one of the bigger shops on the grd floor of SLS, rite? and now u know why most CSers dun recommend buying cams from SLS... ;p

just to note something to thread starter... dun even wait until the stock arrive at end of the month, cos u effectively loses your 1 month of warranty, cos warranty starts the day u paid for the camera, not when u receive it.

call or even go to Canon immediately, get it solved, they might even have 1 there waiting for you... if they don't then tell them u going to case to make it big... ultimately you still want your camera and minus the hassle. They might get from local retailers who are holding stocks, who knows rite...

and i think thats the last we see of Boon with Canon, unless there is a way to skip it thru...

oh ya... i also advice u to send an email to Canon Japan if sg dun do a good job, cos their CS level there is definitely better.
