Er he waiting for GR2 with 21mm lens leh.
Can't do anything yet.
My magic not strong enough, have to wait for me to concoct more exotic poison for him. :bsmilie:

Paging for Dennis... errm, please do your magic here ..... ;)

Yes have it too.
The lens strap is just a thin shot pc of thread with opening at both end. You may have missed it in the box.

Drats, looks like I have to bring it down to John and see if they can update the firmware for me...

Just curious, do you guys get the lens strap with the standard VF-1 kit (not counting those included in promotions). It is not stated on the packaging but listed as standard item in the manual.

That's what I thought initially but after turning the box upside-down, inside-out, ok, it is simply not there. Oh great, something like these (missing lens cap strap, unable to update firmware) have to happen to my first camera. Excuse me while I go grab a thread to secure the lens cap.

i'm looking for a compact to complement by DSLR. was looking at the Nikon P5000 and Canon Powershot G7. Personally I thought the G7 styling was a lot better. Went down to 3:16 to take a look and sam recommended the GX100. Kena poison man! Now I'm really really torn. G7 or GX100. Any comments?

If you are using Canon DSLR and like to use flash than the G7 might have a little edge.
Also the build of the G7 may be slightly better than the GX100.
However everything else the GX100 is better and comes complete with wide lens without adaptor.

erm... mebbe it's just me. but nikon cannot make a decent PnS to save their lives...

the G7's built is a little better than the Gx100. also, the price is abt the same. the gx100 wins, IMO, becos of the 24mm vs 35mm.

anyone could help me, how to change the flash to 2nd curtain ??
thanks ;)

press the flash selection option on the 4-button dial. there's an option for slow-sync. think dats the closest u have to 2nd curtain.

hmm yup tried that one , flash sync,.. but still first curtain

thanks. i currently have a nikon d70s which i use for more "serious" shoots. the problem is sometimes i get too lazy to lug the camera around / or even pull it out of the camera bag. many shots were lost as a result. i thought a pns with good controls would be a good complement, especially for street shots.

agree that gx100 has the upper hand in terms of wider lens and able to shoot raw. but the g7 construction is certainly more rugged.

PS: the bnw shots I've seen on the gx100 are amazing. very contrasty!

if u love street shot, gx100 would be nice coz got snap focus plus 24mm wide. ;)

Looks like Dennis is not the only one spreading poison ;p I, too, went down to John wanting to take a look at G7 and P5000 and Samuel started poisoning by recommending GX100. In the end, it was the 24mm that won me over.
