Bought this last week as a backup for my DSLR camera. Good camera as just a P&S camera. Built is good and personally to me, doesn't lose to G7 in built.

Quality good la as a P&S but definitely cannot fight with D200 with trinity len.

Worth buying for street shooting..........;p ;p

Maybe a less used features on a P&S and was taken off during design stage to save cost :dunno: . Most new P&S don't have this features including the G7 & P5000 if I am not wrong.

upss,.. hmm wondering why gx100 cant do that

Looks good. Maybe I should... shouldn't I? Hmmm...

Good good go BBB ;p , want to have a go at it ??
Already had last saturday, but lacked the shots to see on the screen, so far, so good ;p

The question may be stupid but may I know what do you all do when the effects of the 19mm wide-angle and the polarizer are required? Hold a polarizer flush against the wide-angle lens?

My DIY filter holder for the wide angle lens, idea originated from : http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=279642

1st, get 2pcs flexible magnet from DIY shop, sample :

2nd, cut out a portion of the magnetic strip and stick to the wide angle lens.

Cut a 3 more rings and ensure that these will fit, layer by layer onto the lens, and then super-glue dummy filter

Finally fit the filter ring magnets onto the lens magnetic strip ....

I use 77mm as 72mm had slight vignetting. (77mm with thick polarizer still vignettes slightly on the bottom corners).

Con : added weight to the lens !!

eawtan, thanks for the great mod. I had also taken a look at that thread but had not thought of how to do it. Glad that someone like you came up with a sample :D

this sounds like a silly question... but does anyone know of any 3rd party teleconverters dat can fit the GX-100's extension tube? i think it's kinda handy for me when i need just dat little bit more distance. was trying to shoot the sunrise out of my window today and was hoping dat i can zoom a little more... :embrass:

so far, the ones i've come across are for handycams and brand-specific.

I've thinking about the same thing and searching online reveals a couple of 3rd party teleconverters like the Marumi and Tiffen but I do not where to get them and how the image will turn out to be...

The latest firmware v1.14 has just been released on 29th and addresses the following issues:

1. Improved accuracy of the AF algorithm.
2. Modified the following display phenomena.
- If you switch between AF and MF with the Fn (Function) button, a part of the grid guide may disappear.
- If you turn a camera power with set to the [LANDSCAPE] in the SCENE mode, the message, 'Settings have been changed' will appear.
- If you use AAA type batteries in the Multi AF mode, even if you focus on the subject, a focus frame size will not change.
3. After you register the Spot AF in the MySettings, if you turn the Mode dial to change a setting, a focusing mode may change from the Spot AF to the Multi AF.
4. Found some errors in the shooting information in a DNG file, such as a value of the exposure compensation. Modified to record a DNG file correctly.
5. Modified the phenomenon that the skew correction feature may not work properly.
6. Revise a level of the image compensation in a long exposure.

Strangely, I was totally unsuccessful trying to apply the v1.13 update but v1.14 was updated without any problems...

bro what is the standard firm ware when we bought the camera ?
how do i check it in the cam ? ;)

Hi can I check for advice. Which is a better buy/camera - gX 100, Leica Dlux 3, LX 2?

Thanks. Need a compact camera for easy to reach shoots instead of lugging the DSLR around.

It is quite surprising to have three firmware updates in such a short period of time but as long as things keep improving, we won't really mind the trouble, would we?
