Pls Dun get me wrong, I not relating 'quality to place of manufacturing'. In certain extent, the manufacturing cost lower down the selling price, good for consumers.

Cheers.

Seen it. AF-S wins AF-D hands down. Just wonder how come AF-S F/1.4 seems to perform worse than 1.8 in terms of sharpness in details...

same observation for the 50 1.8G vs 1.4G by DigitalRev except 50 1.8G had aspherical element which accounted for it's sharpness.

I think the little review by Jared Polin from FKP should be sufficient to drive me buying this lens

Reasonable price too... may be no coated with nanoooo so can keep the selling price low...

There are macro lens like 40mm, 60mm, 85mm, 105mm, 180mm & 200mm

The 85mm f1.8 is meant for portrait, although you can add a raynox converter at the front but it will be a waste...

For those who are desperate for this lens and dare to take a risk, Bally Photo at funan level 2 has a few more copies. I know that I had warn against this store but if you know what to check, you can get this lens now where elsewhere had gone out of stock, like me :). Pm me for the quoted price.

Not so suitable used as macro as max is f16, 2.65FT min distance, definietley not 1:1 magnification - importantly NO VR . UNless your micro is oin tripod or using flash.....
