A900

Okay, I've demo'ed the A900 @ Sony Centre Wisma. With the 24-70, it's no joke. Heavy!

Am a bit disappointed with AF speed, though. Was quite sluggish, even at AF Drive Mode Fast. Read some magazines at Kino after that. A few reviews out. All seem to report issues of noise at high ISO and that it's not particularly suited for sports or wedding photography (where fast AF is essential).

I guess I'll be waiting for the next generation Alpha FF?

Odd, my impression is the exact opposite. I feel it locks focus faster than on the A700 and that it's PERFECT for wedding photography.

Hmmm...seems like the reprorts are not doing justice to the cam and misleading the public.

i think a lot of the reviews are using the preproduction body?

sorry backtrack slightly on the APS-C mode. So will there be noticable differences when a DT lens is used on the A900 ?

I was thinking would the DT lens affects the view on viewfinder.

And would there be cropping of the effective lens ? Meaning , since the DT lens focal length of lens are effectively 1.6 times of that of FF. Would that still apply if APS-C mode is turned on ?

Sorry for the multiple questions ... sheesh

Yes, of course the DT affects when you see in the viewfinder. Cropping would still be in place.

I second Rashkae & eow's words!!!
Having the A900 and A700 in hands for the past 1 month, A900 lock faster & the side sensors are way better than A700.
The AWB also improve and with FF lens mount-on.......u would never want to use back those lenses on APS-C

I think there's a likelyhood of a Firmware Update for the A900 to spice its AF Speed.

Source? AF speed decided by the power of the motor inside... unless the AF algorithm can be improved... then a firmware update would work...

High chance it can... but probably only in very specific situations like low light or motion tracking etc. Both of these situations require some extrapolation based on prior data, so it's probably possible to improve the accuracy and speed. (and also a matter of whether sony wants to do it or not)
