A55 availability status

since the old film days until now, there are already millions of photographers who take self portraits on tripod via pre focusing without any issue, and they can even do it with just a timer, dont even need a remote.

however in this thread there is 1 person who cant do that, he can only take self portraits using a swivel lcd and ir remote...

i guess its either the millions of photographers who are too intelligent, or the only person who cant do it is too....

seems expensive...

A33 with kit lens selling at US$749 (S$1048), so a RRP of $1099 is reasonable
A55 with kit cost US$849 (S$1189), so a RRP of $1349 is way higher than its US pricing.

the difference between A33 and A55 is only US$100 (S$140), but if Sony Singapore is selling it at S$250 difference (both with and without kit also $250 difference)!

Now im reconsidering getting A33 instead of the price difference is so much...

I agree with you. A55V price >1200Sin is no long appealing to many already.. :(

@ tokrot and torak,

Sorry I OT abit, ...I thought you 2 are bros ! :bsmilie:

It is always better to have options. I can do it with tripod, but can do it better with swiveling LCD. If things can be better, why not? Just like in the beginning of image stabilisers era, millions of ppl deny the advantage of it, they said for years everyone uses tripod. But now, almost every nee products has either OIS or IBIS.... If we can make life easier, why have to stick in the old ways?

Aiyoh, so many post on this swivel thingie. I'd rather use the current design than a side swivel.

Why, becoz better cam handling (two-hand) for overhead and low shots. We can discuss this to death but we rarely do self-portraits. Anyway I can't really see my own face from the LCD if it's longer than my arms length.

I'd be more concern if a side-swivel is implemented as it will affect my handling in some situation using a heavy lens for walkabouts.

Anyway, it's a done deal. It's not a deal breaker for me.

swee sia but 1 thing i realise is the shooter using alot  lens for the shoot. Think must invest in gd lens den the video will turn out great. Wonder if A33 and A55 any diff in video quality if using the kit lens to shoot?

I agree 101% with you bro !!!

We have the side-ways LCD for years !!! ...suddenly a better bottom swivelling LCD appears and some pple are saying it's no good ! ...exactly as you have describe above.

Latest update:

mscolor receiving stocks for a55 tomorrow. Body only package not many pieces, kit package a lot coming. And all other shops are also receiving stock tomorrow.

Sonystyle i gave up asking. Still the same old story, either end this mth or early oct. So who will buy from them if they sell at rrp and stock arrives later than normal shops???

Very curious :)

Wonder if shoukd upgrade for a55 from a33 (sold all freebies, so body quite cheap for a33)

Last checked for a55 is $1159 for body.

Unless you need 10fps, gps, 16mp and slightly better high iso, then a55 is worth considering. If not stay with a33 for lower price.

I would suggest you go for a580 or a7xx to go along with your a33. ;)

AGREE ! The video is real POISON .... LOL

I think the a55 + 18250 kit is a real bargain.... Correct ?

Now I am torn between the a55 and the D7000. sigh .....

;p;p;p

Depends on whether you need metal body or smaller body for convenience.

IQ should not be too much diff since both using same sensor.

AF in movies whether you want slower cdaf or faster pdaf.

But d7000 is easily 60-70% more expensive and wont be avail until end of year.
