Not true. They are all cheaper than competition less the new SSM lenses. One such example is the 50 1.4, Minolta's around $330, Canon's in the $600, Nikon's $500.

Cheers!

so for wedding shoots, 20D & Dynax7D, which 1 better?

No Idea, D7D is not out yet.

Del_CtrlnoAlt said:
den the flash buy for 7D which 1 better?

Best? 5600HS.

Del_CtrlnoAlt said:
den which lens should i start with?

Depends on your shooting style. From there, you will narrow down the lenses that you need to start with. But you can never go wrong with a mid range zoom.

i read alot about the Canon 20D, since its almost like everybody is talking about it... seem like its something damn super, yet to experience, hope to jump into either 1 of the DSLR brand & stay with it...

20D redefined what the mid range DSLR should be, much like the D70 redefined the entry level market. When you buy a DSLR, you should not only look at specs. You should also look at the system as a whole, what it provides, how it suits your needs.

so... minolta have how many lens type? G & wat? den sigma & tamron have lens for minolta? are they good?

G and non-G (consumer grade). KM has lenses for most photography needs, less tilt shift lenses. All 3rd party lense manufacturers have lenses for Minolta mount. 3rd party lense are cheap and good. With AS, it's they are some of the cheapest stabilised lenses combo money can buy.

is there, like a bulb mode, cos i like to take fireworks as well, den have a wired remote control, unlike D70 i think only have wireless remote... what else...

There is the bulb mode and wired remote on the D7D.

Cheers!

Hmmm,
Without looking closely, I thought it was some red monster eating plants from some film  Silly me :sweatsm:

UY79, so... the below lens roughly how much?

AF 17-35mm f/3.5 (G)
AF 28-70mm f/2.8 (G)
Sigma EX APO RF 50-500mm f/4-6.3 (seem like super... wonder how the lens quality)
AF 100mm f/2.8 Macro (D)

Most of all (if not all) photographers love to have best lens around.. but then I better sharpen my skill first.. :D

i don't think you'll want to consider the G lenses. they are around SG$2K. 7D will be my first dslr, i would go for the 2 new lenses by KM which are D enabled but not G.

so the new KM lense is like the EF-S lens lah, den the G lens is something like the L lens from Canon?

I dunno about the new KM lens, but if it is Tamron based, it might be very good quality indeed... should be way better than any kit lens. The Canon kit lens just don't cut it at all...

Nope.. Both the new lenses are FF (35mm).

D70's kit is much a better one.. If I would buy a D70, the kit is one of the reason. :bsmilie:

So far KM has kept telling the whole world that the KM lenses are constructed in such a way that they will benefit the AS. Since 3rd Party lenses are also constructed in near similar fashion, would they also benefit right ?

Can anyone of your shed some light on this?

u really tempt me into the KM world...

so estimate, how much would the Dynax 7D, vertical grip, the 2 new lens (btw wat size they come in?) with a 5600hs flash & a wired shutter release would gonna cost me? if the cost is lower than the estimate 5k i gonna spend on a 20D set... i guess i am converting...

What is the things you going to buy along with the 20D?

20D + grip already more than 3K, plus 17-40/4 L, you left some bucks for and cheap zoom.. You've Canon SLR + lens now?

Still no clue about the SG price.. US is selling at 1599 for body alone..

Konica Minolta AF zoom 17 - 35 mm F2.8 - F4 (D) - 71,925 YEN (US$ 679)
Konica Minolta AF zoom 28 - 75 mm F2.8 (D) - 58,800 YEN (US$ 555)

I don't think 5K is enough unless you dropped the grip + flash.

May be KM SG should have a package with the items like you mentioned.

BTW, no means I trying to tempt you to switch hor.. :bsmilie:. You're in good hand with Canon.. :D

I am a user of 3 Sigma EX lenses from 17mm to 200mm. They are really sharp. I've done loads of weddings here in the UK and all the pictures are razor sharp and the colours are great too. I have also done enlargements of up to A1 size! No complaints about them.

However, I've heard from a photographer here in the UK who uses Sigma EX lenses with his 10D, that the Sigma lenses keeps breaking down. Aparrently, Sigma EX lenses are fantastic, but they are not really built for high work load if you are a professional photographer.

To add to it, I'm a lil worried about compatibility of Sigma lenses to the new 7D. I'm not sure of the lenses need to be 'rechipped' to be compatible to the Dynax 7. Sigma lenses seems to have compatibility problems with Canon cameras. Not sure if they have been fully rectified yet.

I really hope that I can easily switch to the 7D... when I get enough money that is! hahaha!

Hi Don,

Finally decided to jump onto the DSLR boat :D You'll love it whence you have one, but be prepared for the extra LENS COST ;) .
