For a moment, the dark side is calling out to me (D700).
But the power of the L hold me back in place.

Hold on a little longer.. the 5Dmk II is coming at a price lower than D700...:bsmilie:

Though I must admint the dark side attraction is fatal at the moment.

In the midst of the voices, I also hear tailong also calling out your name. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

16MP? Might as well just use the 1DsII sensor, add dust removal.
Include 40D AF and body, and we have a mix-n-match cam like the 1000D that will please everyone. please don't change battery system, just mfg a high capacity BP-511(B).
Include a canon plastic bag to weather seal the camera.
Shake well and serve.

I think it will be more like a 5D sensor with the 450D tweaks and packaged into a 5D sized camera with the build quality of a 450D. Probably use a Bp-511a battery and costs SG$2000 +/- for a entry level FF.

And as you pointed, a 1DsMkII sensor with the latest tweaks packaged like a 1D/ 1DS without the vertical grip and 2-3 stops better ISO performance than the current 5D, with 6-8fps shutter speed for the true 5D replacement?

:sweatsm:

Mostly the spects will be likely focused on this raging ISO war

The D700 high ISO is really a fatal attarction and many canon user have jump ship looking at the buy/sell

its ridiculous the way some people wanna change system and sell off all their lenses just because a rival brand comes out of a better body. Are they gonna switch back again one Canon comes back with a even better one?
Really dun understand, think some people just have too much money to burn.
Flame me if u want but the fact is much of the world is in poverty and yet people are wasting money in this way.

Many have jump ship and change sect/ club indeed....hiaz.
This is the Era where "The Empire Strikes Back" in the Canon/ Nikon DSLR Wars after many years of Canon monopoly.

While waiting for the big news, Canon at least manage to lower the prices at a affordable range during this period to save the Sect, hold back as much members as possible. Nonetheless, they gotta go better than that!

Actually in StarWar's parlance, this is what I would call Canon's "Revenge of the Sith" period.

Just like the ruling Jedi council, clouded by their false sense of superiority and dominant position in the market, they could not see the Sith (Nikon) perpetrating, infiltrating all around them, until their aging Jedi Masters (5D, 1D Mark III et al, LOL!) are massacred in one fell swoop by Anakin (D700) and Palpatine (D3).

So now, the Canon Rebels (HAHA!) are in hiding, holding firm to the Light side of the Force, waiting for Episode 1D Mark IV: "A New Hope", checking every clickable rumor website for the ONE (3D???) that will bring balance to the Force :bsmilie:

I share your sentiments with regards to the 1st part but this issue with poverty will not go away just because those who can afford will stop spending. Its a really misinformed and naive way of looking at the issue. If only the problem can be solved that easily.....

i don't think it's 'wasting' money. some people can afford it.

plus, some people maintain two sets of lenses for these types of occasions.

Look at the positive sides of it, first it spur the economy (see the impact of WW economy slowdown when US slow down on their spending, that's not helping the poverty), second it encourage competition (go Nikon go, go Sony go, even four third from Olympus/Panasonic has meaningful innovation recently, waky wake Canon), third it provide good supply of second hand cameras/lenses for us to pick up...:bsmilie:

I haven't been to this thread for some time.... good to see that it has balooned up to 44 pages.....

Based on a 'leaked' info on the german website, it would put the mark II @
16 MP
6.5 FPS
Digic III
Weather sealing

The picture looks slightly different from the one here: http://www.canon.de/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_SLR/index.asp

that screenshot is a fake, it already appeared on dpreview a few months ago...

yup, it's always a good thing when people dump their inferior stuff on us for a low low price....

Competition are good for consumers, first of all, prices are lower cos no monpoly or cartel...secondly, it can create more choices of product ranges, look at the car industries, if not for the 3rd party importers, our road will be filled by mainly corolla, civic and sunny only....now we are spoilt for choices. Some of the models seen on the road, i dont even know its model names.....haha:o

Very soon, we will know how accurate or way off we are from the spec of the 5DII when it launch, as this thread clearly shows that what we expect out of canon, whether they are willing to satisfy our need by giving us full options and features in the 5DII or keep throttling back on their know-how and lose market shares to competitions.

Electronics industries are moving very fast, maybe in next 5 years, all PnS uses APS-C sensors and all Dslr whether entry level or pro series will be at least FF or even reaching MF

The days are near...;p

Maybe OOT.. Everybody knows that Nikon has the highest ISO on their DSLR as compare to Canon. But is there a need for that high ISO that Nikon produce? If yes, why is Canon still come up new sets of FF DSLR without raising their ISO? :dunno:
