Canon current strategy seen to be focus on the entry level SLR range.
While it's competition is producing more high end SLR models.
I am seeing increasing number of my contacts, Canon users, getting Nikon D300 or D700, as they can't resist the temptation from many good things they heard about and may be tire of waiting for Canon reaction. That might be a danger sign for Canon. Not sure if Canon has any strategy put in place to counter the competition. They have been very quiet.

Actually in StarWar's parlance, this is what I would call Canon's "Revenge of the Sith" period.

Just like the ruling Jedi council, clouded by their false sense of superiority and dominant position in the market, they could not see the Sith (Nikon) perpetrating, infiltrating all around them, until their aging Jedi Masters (5D, 1D Mark III et al, LOL!) are massacred in one fell swoop by Anakin (D700) and Palpatine (D3).

So now, the Canon Rebels (HAHA!) are in hiding, holding firm to the Light side of the Force, waiting for Episode 1D Mark IV: "A New Hope", checking every clickable rumor website for the ONE (3D???) that will bring balance to the Force :bsmilie:

Stop speculating everyone, just go out an take some pictures and buy any camera you want. Canon, Nikon, Sony and etc are all brands of tools.
