I think sooner Canon will have 5D II with 16MP, Better AF & Better ISO performance than D700. Worth to wait?
I hope so... if I'm not wrong the AF on D700 is usable with f8 lenses and the cross sensors are active at f5.6.
So far I only know the 45AF sensors that the 1 series uses can match it.

Actually, there's just a few possible outcomes on the supposed "new model":
1) 5Dm2 is a significant upgrade over the 5D
2) 5Dm2 is a 40D with a FF sensor
3) 5Dm2 comes in two flavors: pimped 40D version, and crippled 1Ds version
4) Jokes on you, no 5Dm2. 5D line is retired, and we wait all over again for either a FF 60D or a FF 1DMarkIIIN
So do you want to wait?

i hope so too.... even the eos 5 from 10 years ago has a built in flash WITH a zoomable head....
If they want to catch the Olympics, they should have announced BY NOW already. 1st July had already come and gone. Or at least by end of the week at the very latest. :sweat:Nah, I think Canon 5D mkii will definitely be out to catch the highlights of the Beijing Olympics with Nikon D700 side by side....
Competition is on, game on.
I suspect they might give the Olympics a miss, and announce in August instead, just prior to Photokina. I think the best things they could possibly do to wrest back attention from Nikon:
- Price the 5DII around USD $2,499 or below to make it more enticing than the D700
- Shift down the pricing of the nearest prosumer model, the 40D, to maintain market share of that segment of the market, and which also makes the 40D more attractive to xxxD users to upgrade to.
I feel its just a matter of time before Canon responds with something. Rest assured they will not rest on their laurels. But there are signs of the first few rumblings of unease in the Canon camp....it had been 3 long years already since the release of 5D and its becoming a bit long in the tooth in terms of technology, although it is a fine camera and nothing is wrong with it. I hope they have something really good up their sleeves. The release of this D700 can only spell good things for us consumers in the future.
Since 'Preview' of Nikon D700 is already out...... Canon should be counter-attacking soon with news on any new FF camera.... :bsmilie:

video function? Hmm.. interesting. To me, user of such camera are really into photography and will not be bothered by this feature. I believe they would prefer canon to pump $$ into something that can improve the the pic IQ rather than spending it on the video function. Of course, it is just speculation and like you said.. wait for the official announcement and we will know.
I think the guy who wrote that must be smoking pot all day... LOL!
Last I heard, the new 5D will feature a wiper to clean away oily stains from nose on the LCD. Another smart innovation from Canon. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
Just hope that the 5D replacement comes in 2 version...... Poor Man & Rich Man..... :thumbsup::bsmilie:

I'll think that is highly possible,
many will actually compare Canon 5D/5D MK ii with the Sony A900 on 24-70 F2.8 Lens.
As Alpha Body comes with SSS..It might sound like a better choice :think:
