Oh dear.... I just updated my EOS utility and installed 3 pic styles on my toy camera just an hr ago. Did not have any issue.
Since your 5D is under warranty, you can actually send it to CSC for updating - free!

Thanks! I find the wait for its successor pointless as i only need a simple FF DSLR to cover my portraiture and street shoot needs.
Yeah i'm using the latest version 2.4 with windows vista. Initially can but after that got this error.
I know CSC can do it but the prob is i'm working and dun have the time to go there.
Can you install the driver before plugging it in?
The thing is, it only starts to install when i plugged it in and turn on my 5D.
If you don't have time to use your gear, I'll happily help use it
Haha i always have time to use my photography gears, except no time to go CSC. Nvm lah, i'll just stick to the presetted pic styles, though i think i also won't be using it often.

u can download those styles and applied them using DPP. i din use my 5D to install those styles.
I may not even need picture styles and i also don't photoshop my pics.
Time to steer back to the 5D II Specs....
Yeah, since Canon is taking so long to develop it, it must be something out of this world to trash the competition. Since it is coming after the D700, it should be better right and/or cheaper? :think:

So, say, it is comparable in price to Nikon one, with comparable features. Would you sell all your canon lenses and jump to Nikon ship just because it "isn't cheaper/better than D700"?
I don't think market isn't 'on the fence' in this case, especially for a high-end camera like 5D mk II or whatever that vaporware will eventually be called. Out of all buyers of the camera, may be more than 90% would be people who are already in the field and have chosen their brand, rather than people who start out anew with 50%-50% choice for Canon vs Nikon.
I won't sell my lenses becos I love :lovegrin: my Ls. But I definitely need a good FF to capture the full image circle produced by the Ls.
If Nikon keep producing FF cams that are much cheaper and very good (e.g. D3), I need to collect more dark lenses. As it is, I already have more Nikon bodies than Canon ones. :embrass:

I just got back from HK, asked ard for 5D kit price.
Found that MongKok Wing Shing was the cheapest @ $21300 by cash/card. Was tempted to buy while my fren from my HK told me to wait a while. He said he heard some news that japan has already mass produced the 5D MkII/7D which will be launched in coming September.

Canon will most definitely be releasing another full-frame sibling this year (2009) for sure. Whether it's just a warmed over 5D, a pimped 40D, or a real shocker (good or bad) is yet to be seen.
For those in the hunt, why not bargain-hunt for a nice used 5D??
Edit: 5D is not the longest running DSLR as I thought (the D1x takes that crown!), but is very well on its way to take that World Record!

Important canon should do an economic way to let user own FF camera in long run.
