A question on Extra Optical Zoom (EZ) on the LX3. Some say it is cropping, just like we take the photo and crop it on a PC. But isn't the extra zoom (e.g. 60mm vs 100mm) will create a different perspective from simply cropping? Please correct me if I have a wrong understanding. I can only...

You get the 5% rebate in your credit card statement when you pay by OCBC credit card. I think the rebate is only for the fair.

Good you got yours with casing. The difference with Best Denki deal last week is $664 (after rebate) that has 2 8GB card, 3rd party battery, mini tripod, cleaning kit, but no casing and no screen protector.

LX3 was selling at Best Denki fair at Taka B2 for $699 with 2 8GB card, 1 spare battery, and cleaning kit/mini tripod. OCBC card has additional 5% rebate. So quite a decent price plus you have the option to buy extended warranty. Too bad today is last day if you miss it.

One is HD, one is SD. You are comparing apple and orange. With a decent HV30, it is hard for a SD camcorder to look better than it.
