Zeiss Lens on EOS

OK, my attempt with large aperture photography - this fishmonger was shot with a Zeiss 50mm F1.4 on a 20D

Just a word of caution to those who wish to buy the CZ lenses from Eb@y.
Recently all the lenses that I got from Eb@y come in very bad condition. The glass is either dirty, got fungus or got scratches. These comes from sellers with good ratings and they failed to mention these defects in their listings. I think I'll not buy any more CZ lens from Eb@y.
So for those of u who intend to buy through mail order or Eb@y, just be cautions and good luck!

These CZ lenses are really good compared to the EF lenses but I need some booster to keep up the interests... I need better lenses or something interesting or something new...

Had wanted to migrate the Leica but have received lemon lenses and returned them. Waiting for my 3rd R lenses to arrive.....

I agree, ebay purchase have its risk and if you want risk free it is more expensive somethimes. I got very good deal from ebay and not so good deal also.

did you try the leica lens with Bessa body ?
this may get you more mileage

After using digital, I sold all my M lenses.
Until there's a full frame rangefinder that accepts M mount....

Just got myself a Leica lens to replace the CZ 28mm. While the CZ is excellent but the Leica is just awesome when u shot wide open!

well we knew it long ago.
before digicams came along.
so now others know what they paid for when they buy a Leica lens.

no need to enlarge details at corners.

2 of my friends have projected slides taken by Leica mixed with slides taken with other cams.
Their aged mothers who are not into photography at all and not into science or technology; can pick out the shot taken with Leica. Just from the look. It is visibly superior.

But then again, as hobbyists do we really need to spend that much?

Yes agreed.
I sold my leica cron to a pro,he only admire and use it for his weekend street shot with his wife with a M6.
And he said daily shoot for $$,only his big canon.

can it be that the diff is due to depth of field? or the lenses were focused at different distances?
I don't think cz is that bad. And for that matter other brands lenses are good too.
Could it be due to the different adapters that were used?
I think examine more closely and do not jump to conclusions with one test.

I've to agree that this is one extreme example where the CZ is really soft compared to the Leica. However, other pairs of comparisions do suggest Leica is indeed sharper.
I've posted my test at FM and several members who had done their own testings concur to my results.

I love the Bokey of the 2.8 Zeiss. Still cannot bear to sell all of them to go to Leica. Maybe will one day.

For those getting the 5D, the 18mm distagon will not allow the mirror to clear and thus cannot be used.

The popular 21mm, 28mm, 50mm and most lenses isn't a problem though.

We can see the Zeiss lens to be more readily available soon!
They will be in both Nikon F and M42 mount. So u can easily get the cheap M42 adapters and use it on your EoS bodies!!!
