wah!! How much is this lens? is it a C/Y mount?

The 50mm f/1.7 is just too good. Never enjoyed having a lens as much.

If it is a Contax, then of course it is in C/Y mount.
If it is a Leica, then of course it is in Leica R mount.
Just just the appropriate adapter to fit it to your EOS body.

Among Contax users, this is one of the cream.
A killer lens is the Carl Zeiss 100mm F2 West Germany.

It is not about sharpness. Most brands can give you sharpness.
It is the 3 dimensionality of the picture and beauty of the tone when you look at portraits.

The makro plannar is different from the 100mm f2 which is not a macro lens.
There is a 100mm f3.5 which is a smaller lens and many says that it is as good as the 100mm f2. I've the f3.5 but do not have the f2 to do a comparison.

Just received a CZ 50mm f1.7 lens from Ebay and was screwed. Lens was very mint but the glass was very dirty. Almost wanted to sell it away. Then realised that it cost only $35 to send it for cleaning. So I'm keeping it!
So this is one aspect that u guys can consider when u're searching for the scarce CZ lenses.

You can now use Contax N on EOS body!!!
The AF is reported to be faster than the N lens on its native Contax body!!! :bigeyes:


I'm waiting for further report of users successfully usig the 17-35mm lens on a full frame body!

Just received my CZ 28mm lens today. However, the DSLRx Zeiss-to-EOS adapter has not arrived yet.
Nevertheless, placed the CZ 28mm on my 20D and took a few pixs.

My god! The CZ is amazing!!! Can't wait to mount in properly on my Canon when the DSLRx adapter arrives!!!

Some pics with C/Y Distagon 21mm:

Using this lens on a EOS 5D without a split screen. Really very hard to tell if it is in focus or not. I'm now ordering a focus confirmation adapter! Any one used such adapter before? Does the adapter work well?

Has anyone been using the new Carl Zeiss ZF lens on the EOS bodies?

I'm using the Vario-Sonna 35-70mm again! The adapter with focus confirmation works really well with this lens and take out the guessing game, especially for off center subjects.

There's really something special about this small little lens. Imagine when Canon cave in to the competition and produce an EOS body with IS! Rocks man!
