Xf 18-55mm review

Thanks for sharing. It was not there when I checked it just the day before.

U r most welcome. Cheers.

Just came back from Italy. Using the 18-55mm most of the time and only using the 35 for low light. I even managed to do some night shoot with tripod.

Operating most of the time around zero (and occasionally sub-zero) temperature with no issue whatsoever.

I am please with the performance of the 18-55 as a travel lens.

i am very pleased with the 18-55mm as a travel lens too..

do not remember a kit lens stuck on my camera for so long..

I find that if I were to use the 35mm, I would have to stay pretty far back and that isn't even useful in crowded or space restricted situations.

shoot shoot and shoot to get used to the focal length..
once you are used to it you will know how far/near to stand to compose ur pictures..

now that i am back in Sg.. the 35mm will be stuck to my X-E1 once again..
no matter what the 35mm is still my fave lens..

I am in HK with my family.. Using 18-55mm all the time.. Very versatile and images are really sharp for a kit lens..

Of course not as good as the IQ of 35mm.. Only whipped out the 35mm once at night..

I'm also at HK with family my dilemma is if I buy ex1 or not lolz using nex7 now as my main work horse. Seem the ex118-55 kit price is roughly 11000hkd-12000hkd here at Mongkok the 35mm bundled most shop not carrying it anymore.

I agree whatever cam you carrying a versatile lens is the wide zoom lens specially if ur traveling with kids or family. Even me I seldom use my primes when traveling unless you have 2 bodies one wide zoom one with prime.

X-E1 & 35mm bundle was d initial special kick off limited edition for HK then. It was 9990HKD. I think d prices should b ard 11k HKD for any X-E1 bundled kits now in HK. Not really cheaper than in sg by much.

Y dun u get more accessories. Should b cheaper like Billingham bag or something.

U still haven't made up yr decision on getting d X-E1? Play wif it for awhile while u r in d shops. In terms of kit lens, d Fuji XF 18-55 is definitely sharper than NEX 18-55. U gotta weigh d pros n cons. Yes. U will lose focus peaking to use all yr adapted lenses. But I've gotten used to using magnification on d X-E1 to use my M & CY lenses. Not too bad.

But d XF35 is really great to haf. Seriously try hklfc website n look around. Good deals do pop up.

Tatz great... BBB... :bsmilie:

You're switching over to Fujifilm? o_O

No bro I am loving my NEX7 using it now at HK and its been awesome cam. I had my A77 last year same trip and this time I am enjoying the trip More and still get good pix.

I am thinking of getting xe-1 as 2nd mirrorles body I find out that its good to have one portrait cam and one wide-zoom for landscape and group shooting.

If you are enjoying your Nex 7, it will take you a while to adapt to the X-E1. Each camera has its strengths, and there are some areas that Nex 7 is still better, but there are some area that X-E1 shines.

I have a chance to swop my X-E1 recently with my buddy's Nex 7 that I used to have, and I realized that I am having new interest with Nex 7, especially with its new pancake zoom. Very light and versatile, and it will be interesting to compare the new Sony 35mm f1.8 prime to the Fuji 35mm f1.4. Depending on your needs, but if you like all the functions of the Nex 7 and use them to the max, you might find X-E1 quite simple. For IQ alone with both using their kit zoom, X-E1 is slightly sharper due to it non-AA filter if you pixel peep, but not much different if you print the normal photo size.

Thanks bro zoom yeah love the nex7 functions and customizations customized my buttons to my liking and using it is a breeze. I think I like this than my A77 hehe but nothing beats full dslt /dslr when it comes to button but nex7 is close.

Thanks for the insight was planning to have 2nd mirrorles body but still not fully decided if I ll get xe-1. See how it goes my main concern now is I am in the midst of buying a resale flat you know how its is when buying flat and how much cash flowing out and some more buy house furniture. ...

House comes first, camera can wait. Frankly, since you already have a Nex 7, I don't see you missing anything from the X-E1.

I agree... House comes first. But U ask me to swap to X-E1 one leh... :bsmilie:
