Tried the new X20 at the IT Show yesterday, felt pretty much at home since I had an X10 for quite a while, except the info overlay in the viewfinder which took me quite a while to figure out (it was disabled when I tried it). But I probably would still stick to the back LCD as w/ X10 if I were getting the X20. But for now I just don't have the BB impulse anymore. The Sony RX100 suits me better for my use (of a P&S camera).

I was at the IT show on Sunday afternoon, no more stock on the silver/black models. From the product catalogue, it looks nicer than the all black model (strange enough, the x100 limited edition is in all black finish). I would prefer the word “x20” to be printed on the top panel of the camera, just like the x10.
If I will to upgrade, i would probably be using the LCD screen to compose a shot just like what I’m currently being doing with my x10. The OVF is still 85% coverage. That’s still a minus point.

I see it as a plus point
At least X10/20 gives you the option to raise the camera to your eye and shoot. Can't say the same for many other compact cameras without paying significant money for an add-on.

10 years ago those kind of viewfinders were common in digital cameras. I think it just turned out that they aren't very useful for most people.

OVFs are very useful in dark environments where the noisy and grainy LCD display makes it difficult to frame the composition of the shot, and also in bright outdoor conditions where the LCD display is too dark to be seen properly. The problem with using OVFs in cameras before the Fuji X100 and now the X100s and the X20, is that we need to take our eyes away from the OVFs if we need to check on the camera settings and we can't even do it easily under bright outdoor conditions.

One of the many reasons why I bought the x10 (for general shooting & backup my DSLR) is it has an OVF. I didn’t know then how exactly the compose is using the OVF. Coming from using film camera in the past, I really like using the OVF. As mentioned b4, the benefits of using the OVF & very few new compact come with an OVF.
Since I like to compose the way I want it (with no or min cropping) b4 shooting, 85% OVF coverage is quite a challenge for me. I hope thru’ constant practice, I can improve on my framing.

I think ISO 1600 is still quite useable. What is really good is the image stabilisation of the X20 though.

I think it's a bit of a stretch, even the first generation of Nikon 1 bodies (same sensor size than RX100) seems to have less noise.
