X20 thread

Good luck with you new kit! Any photos so far?
Still charging the battery.
Since Fuji claimed that the image quality of the X20 is even better than that of the Sony RX100 and the m43 cameras of the Olympus and Panasonic despite the smaller sensor size, maybe the first thing I would do is to check out their claim. ;)

I got mine from Parisilk Holland Village. But they are completely out of stock at the moment. More stock coming in next Monday though.
I also hoot the new X20/X10 Lens Hood & Protection Filter set (LHF-X20) which also includes a Hood Cap to bling up my X20. ;)

Thanks for your info. Appreciate it. I also received message from my contact in another shop, apparently some stock may be coming in over the weekend. I will get it once it arrives.

Hi, can shar ehow much you got it at the IT show? I'm thinking of getting the camera as well...but not sure whether to get it at the fair or next week...

S$799

Tk foto is selling x20 at 775 in cash and 790 with credit. Free 16th sd card and casing. Plus free battery and travel cleaning kit which have to go down fujifilm office to collect.

Played with it today and unfortunately I didn't like it. The zoom ring is far from smooth (well, still same as the X10), the viewfinder is creepy and the display looks too lowrez.

just curious, what is AF-S & AF-C?

Is there any extended warranty for online registration?
In the past you got 2 extra years for a certain amount of cash (registration within 14 days), don't think it comes with additional months for free here.

I thought about it coz I almost bought the X10 already last year. Anyway, yesterday I played with the X20 (and the X100S) and I didn't like it. LCD is too low resolution, the viewfinder is like from an instant camera (essentially just a hole in the box) and the lens feels cheap. Of course the X10 is the same but I think the X20 simply seems to be to little too late now. I guess I would rather go with a larger sensor in a smaller body like the RX100 or an even larger sensor in a more compact body like the Nikon A. The X20 doesn't slip into my pockets coz of the non-collapsible lens, the others seem to do that (at least the RX100). On the other hand the X100S is fantastic!

The viewfinder is definitely not like that of an instant camera. For a compact camera costing < $800, it would be too much to expect Fuji to put in a standalone CV quality OVF into the X20. The overlaying of color changing digital info on the OVF display is innovative and definitely way beyond the capability of more expensive compact cameras with OVFs not counting the way more expensive X100 and X100s of course. The lens doesn't feel cheap to me and is very sharp and bright even at the tele end. AF felt faster than the RX100 although I think that Fuji's claim that the smaller sensor of the X20 produces better IQ than that of RX100 is a little exaggerated.

By cheap I meant the zoom ring, the movement is too chunky. Not saying it's a bad camera, it's a good one. Just three points I didn't like.

What I didn't like about the X10, and will continue to not like about the X20 is the On-Off switch. It always feels like it's going to be the first thing to fail (and incur some expensive repair involving the entire lens unit).
