personally the only adapted lens I have slight interest in, is the CV 12mm as there are no equivalent focal length on native XF mount.

In 2013 we will have:
21mm f/2.8
28mm f/2
35mm f/1.4
50mm f/1.4
85mm f/1.4
90mm f/2

excluding the zooms, there is no strong reasons to go for adapted lens... just my 2c.

Focus peaking is overrated. It is at best a guide. You still have to magnify if you want squared on focus.

While I agree that focus peaking is still a reference kinda feature, it greatly improves the speed of focusing. I focus much faster manually with the GXR than compared to xpro1 with the same manual lens, with relatively good accuracy.

The XF 35mm is so good , is it pointless to use other 35mm M mount lens. I've also noticed that corner sharpness of M mount lens on X-pro1 sensor is less than optimum.

Very impressed with the XF 35mm IQ no question :) is the auto Focus Speed ( and manual focus speed for that matter) that needs to improve, if you need to shoot moving subjects I.e....

;p I have to admit... I rather have my camera printed "Hasselblad" than a "Fujifilm" even if it means the same camera.

to me that's just a small annoyance... I took 1-2 mins to reset the time, and 4 of my custom functions.

By the way is it just me or the AF is faster on the new firmware? I only tested on the XF35 and seems like it is easier to lock on target and it doesn't hunt as much...?

I totally agree if one is dead set on using AF then adapted lens is really a hassle. But if
a) Someone who is not keen to get a set of new lens just yet or
b) Have a lot of lens from Nikon/Canon and not sure if the Xpro1 would be something he/she will use most of the time
c) Pretty sure that the lens image quality of yesteryear is much better than what modern lens is offering now
d) Have no qualms in using MF...

....they will not be hard pressed to get the Xpro1 with an adaptor.

My 2 cents too.

Newbie here. Correct me if I am wrong. The M mount is for the use of leica lens on the xpro 1. If this is right, I see it hard that this will do justic to anyone that do not already have any m mount leica lens. And to buy a leica lens just for the xpro 1 does not make sense as well given the price for the lens.

In the market there are basically two main mounts from Leica. One is M mount, in use by the M Series cameras and then there is the L mount which is a screw mount that is a generation before the M mount. And if one tries hard enough, the old M Leica lens is worth every penny in the second hand market. Just go to the shops at Peninsular or Excelsior to have a feel of their prices.

I personally have the old L Mount lens from my old Canon L Rangefinder camera and will be getting an adaptor for it with the XPro2. I have also tested the Nikkor F Mount adaptor with the XPRO1 (sample shots in the other thread). In short, I find the Image quality is equal to or even exceed the IQ of the Fujinon lens if the set up is done correctly. In short, buying an adaptor at $100+ to save 800 x 2 + 900 = 2500 worth of Fujinon lens at the short term is not a bad idea. I personally am waiting for the 35mm equivalent on the X Mount.

Updated with success. Anyone else finds it annoying how you would have to change all the settings every time you update the firmware?

lucky you, i downloaded the firmware update but it won't let me update from 1.10... camera keep saying im already on latest firmware

AF seems faster on this firmware... or placebo effect?

Same here, AF seems faster. My XF lenses rarely hunts now unless the subject really has no contrast.

Maybe this is some undocumented upgrade...

AF feels noticeably snappier with less failed focus in low light. Tested on both 35mm and 18mm.

Need some feedback/advice regarding DR setting in the XP1 menu.
When would you set to DR100%, 200% or more?
What does this do to the image?
Would be nice if someone can show same picture taken with different DR setting so we can see the diff.
Thks in advance.

The higher the setting the less blow-outs and pure blacks in the image.
I shoot RAW and set to auto DR, but when doing in-cam raw conversion typically i dial it back down to 200% for artistic purposes.
Note that for RAW, you can only set DR to a lower value than shot i.e. if shot in DR200 you can only convert to DR100 and DR200, cannot convert to DR400.

I leave mine as Av mode, auto ISO, auto DR.
