Is this refering to the ModelShoot ?
Find the timing bad, mostly around 9-12am.
Lighting is harsh around this hour.
Should have it around 1700-1930.

are u referring to outdoor shoot? If outdoor, then 1700 - 1930 is considered sunset shoot?
If indoor, lighting will still be the same regardless of time. the only difference would be the natural light from windows.

i find that most people in CS are pretty friendly
i used to shoot alone too
but after joining others for shoots,i find that its more fun to shoot together
just try once,it wouldnt hurt:)

Provided you have the "frequency" with them and can break/get into their inner circle. Alot of posting asking and talking about outings are merely for themselves.

I am keen to learn from all the masters here too but am a bit paiseh la....how ? scared age difference , too blurr, lousy skills etc.....

I'm a newbie in CS,also in singapore.
I always take a photo alone because none of my friend enjoy this hobby
I'm not shy about my photoshoot skill
but have a little shy with my english language skill:cry:
If is possible,I wanna join your group next time, can I.:D

There was this once I went on a outdoor trip (Not Clupsnap). This small group of rowdy 4 guys before setting up equipments was already rattling about their equipments. One said "Aiyah, dun use L lenses picture sure blur one, waste time only!"

Out came their 10Ds, 1D and others and truckload of white L lenses, transported using their fleet of cars comprising of BMW coupe, Mit EVO, Alfa Romeo and an Audi.

Perhaps these are the snobs who makes outings terrifying for newbies, amateur and thriftys with their less than glorious equipments?

Are you affected by all these? Would you:

1. Set up your $15 tripod next to someone's Manfrotto?
2. Put your $300 P&S digital camera on the tripod next to that fellow's 5D on his Manfrotto?
3. Ask the rowdy ones to keep quiet so that your little camera on its light tripod will not shake?;p

Hmmm... I must say you have quite a few good pointers here regarding joing group outings.

Well, just my opinions; I think it is vrey much like going to church, and I feel photography to each and every individual, is almost religious. In church, the congregations in different mass timings are made up of all sorts, likewise, in such outings people from all walksm character traits & attitudes will likely be in the mix.

So my opinion is simply partake for the sake of the Art of Photography and or for the Journey in Learning this Art form. Don't concern yourself with snobs and show offs, because at the end of the day, regardless of how costly or branded your photo gear are & what transportation you arrived in, it is the quality of your pictures that COUNTS THE MOST.

Nothing else, matters.

Personally, I avoid such group outings for this same reason.
Perhaps a different kind of outing should be created, such as Gear Flaunting Gathering, or Photo Gear Ownership Exposition/Competition for such people.

Dear oldflower, I think your comments were very wise and philosophical. That's also why there are so many churches/temples (and more new ones) for people to choose from.
I hope HIFISiao will not give up after one bad/stressful event. May be if there is a hifi outing he/she will be the "top-dog" instead of the others.
I am a "elderly" new member and I think I will be thick skin enough to try to join the outings, if time permits.
Hope to see you soon. ;)

My reason for wanting to join is to motivate myself... sometimes the feeling wanes.. and I agree there are many different people and some have no patience for newbies. I'm also an uncle so if you guys wanna meet up and share tips or just motivate each other, that would be great. I myself is a cheapskate. If it works, then it works.. I cannot afford the best.

Hello from one uncle to another.. :bsmilie:

I started off a cheapskate too you know.. but we all have to start somewhere at any level of competence or economic class.
Back in my earlier years shooting negs and slides, it was painfully expensive because of processing and film costs, and I was still learning with liitle income has I wasn't yet running a business of my own. So every cent pinched me hard. But it did something to me; it made me very critical of every shot I took. Mistakes costs money. Right now, I have a large carton box filled with mistakes & shots that cannot see the light of day! :bsmilie:

But one thing I like to bring up; back in my early days of trial and error, there was NO INTERNET. No one or no forums to posts and ask on how to do certain things. Everything had to be painfully learnt the hard way. These days, I log in here and I see every beginner expecting to be Spoon Fed.

Maybe if you are keen, us being uncles, PM me we go out shooting some time soon?

Sure sure.. maybe we can ghave something middle of next month. :)

Goodie... probably will create a new thread for that.. kinda ironic to organize something in this thread. :)

Hi,

I find difficult to join the ppls here as i am a newbies. i am keen in photography and i do ask where or how to go into the trend for the future photography or join the group but seem no one reply.

cheers

used to be quite shy about going for photo outings too. but i got a chance with work with a great guy from this forum and learn that he does a lot of outings. too bad i lost touch with him after i graduated in early 07.

how about something like newbies outing... ;p

hmm most of my own outings turned out to be 50% shooting 50% drink kopi at kopitiam. Its a great time to bond !!:bsmilie:

Here's one experience I had early this year when I was at the Henderson Wave bridge grabbing a few shots; this young chap saw me shooting around and started shadowing my every angle I shot from. I didn't mind that, but when I tried to strike up a friendly conversation, he pretended not to hear me.

I don't want to generalize just because of one individual's lack of social grace, but I think by a large percentage, they are like cockles - clam up the moment you touch them.

look forward to it, but i am a newbies.

I have posted a link for newbies to meetup. Nov16 (Sun) : Meetup for newbies.
Let me know if any are keen to join. This is more for chatting and maybe some tips and tats on how to improve ourselves without spending on expensive gadgets.
