erwinx: hahahaha good one, I also got suggestion, use old kind of bellow camera, sure confirm bigger than anybody's! or wear a tshirt that says "my manhood is inversely proportional to my camera size" -> got that from some car sticker to do with car size.

I'm one of those who voted shy to come becos .... my camera is only a Canon A40. Seeing all those big cameras you guy handle, I felt like it's "Xiao Wu Jian Da Wu"

Well, don't feel that way. I brought my Oly C700 out to JBP with a few of these lovely people from CS and what do i see? High end SLRS with big/long telephoto lenses with mine looking like some toy. So i know exactly how you feel and what you mean.

But far from making me feel bad, they were nice enough to answer any questions i have and allowed me to handle their gear (which i thought was damn nice of them since i have only just met them that day).

So no worries. Join us. :)

Whoever that teases you abt your camera, you can go tell BlueStrike.

CS members have a reputation of being yaya papaya? Can elaborate? Don't worry I-AM, I'm not trying to corner you, I'm just interested to hear more; words like these usually don't reach us! ;)

Can think of a few people who are yaya, but certainly not Adam. :)

I would second that! :)

Anyhows, i honestly have not met any CS members so far on any of the outings who were "ya ya". Almost all of them were more than willing to share their experience, let you handle their precious other half (their cameras) and give sound advise.

Why don't you join us and decide for yourself? I'm quite sure you will find it an altogether enjoyable experience. :)

I"ve been to redang, quite nice place, but not much fishes, more hard corals.

Oo... Actually those island will have a promotion during end of may or ard that, juz before school holidays. This is becoz by then there aint much people going for island trip, so u can get more than 50% discount. Was in kl by then, so saw advert on newspaper so signed up.

But if u mean real lobang, i can help u guys organize trip to sipadan island, sabah. have a sabah local fren who can help to get local price. so much cheaper than those quoted from sg dive center or travel agencies.

of course, it is better to do diving than snoorkling in sipadan island, so best if u already have Open water diver cert or advanced diver cert.

:D

FWAH!!! sipadan at local prices?? I tot they would verify if its indeed a local booking in? wow!!! would love to take you up your offer when I graduate next year! how much is it for a diving package?

Hoho.... This har... okok... he went diving this september, booked @ tawau, the "borneo" diving centre (dunno borneo what name liao, but is the most famous diving centre there, even sg travel agencies also book the same way).

For everyday there on the island, 200RM=100SGD(approximation, depends on currency, but based in ringgit malaysia) one day

100SGD covers:
1) ur lodging(air-cond double occupancy=2 people 1 room that type)

2) 3 meals

3) unlimited beach dive+1 boat dive
(heard got some people managed to get 2 boat dives but still not sure, what is confirmed is there will be 1 boat dives, 2 boat dives depends on how u talk the dive masters into it)

4) rental of equipments, beach dive no need rental fees. but boat dives not very sure covers all or not, but from my frens experiance the 200bar air tank, regulator,BCD and weight are covered. He dunno abt fins, wetsuit and mask coz he brought his own

All 100SGD for 1 day, so normally people dive for 4-6 days, depend on ur plan. Please note that air ticket is not included.

So hor, for his dive, he dived for 5 days = 1000RM, count in the air fare = 550RM(took from johor, so cheaper), and some spendings in tawau = less than 100 RM.
So total 1650 RM ---> roughly 800SGD for total trip.

Me thinking of doing 5 day dives @ sipadan the coming march too. The fren volunteer to go with me and lead as guide.
Looking forward to this.. Haha... Dare not book from SG agencies, they will anyhow charge u ard 1.2k or more.. sigh..

Halo...this thread's becoming off-topic liao, back to earth please!

:embrass: Accidentally ran off topic. Anyway, to contribute more on this topic, just share my personal experiance:

Juz recently took up photography and purchased a basic canon slr. read thru some photography books and learnt the basics steps by steps. Only took few rolls of film in experimental shoot out(categorized as->> newbie??:D )

Then suddenly took up courage and joined CS Dragon Kilin (Ceramic making)" project outing few weeks back.

Equipped with only my EOS500N+kit lens+1 tripod+only built in flash, was really amazed at the equipments fellow clubsnap photographers brought with them. And really feel paiseh for too "green".(try to imagine holding a std kit lens camera plus cheapo 79SGD tripod and looking at the vast lens, superb slr/dslr and more than 500SGD tripod with ballhead)

but feel at ease later on, as cs members there are all very nice people, and best thing is from my conversation with them, learnt a lot. Plus they are also kind enough to let you try to hold and test their equipments. :D Never held a DSLR before but managed to in the outing.... hehe..

Plus conversation with most of the cs members also helps a lot, such as small chat with Malkw/Sulhan made me realize-> must get an extra flash+cons and pros of slide films(frankly, before this outing i never realized there is one thing called"slide film"), etc.

A very enjoyable outing indeed.

Will most probably join clubsnap outings next time if time permits, but of course only after i get my hand on a flash first.:D

I understands that there will be some that have the same feelings as i had, but my advice is: just join and shoot lol, the greenish feeling will still be there, but hey! at least u will still feel enjoyable, and learn a lot... :D

Hiee...

Its good to feel green in any hobby as tis will encourage you to learn newer stuff and techniques.........if you think you have already know all the technique.....then there is a risk of your camera not leaving the dry box for awhile

;)

cheechee, good that you did join us... i mean, every1 starts somewhere rite? i wish i had these kinda things to join when i was just starting to pick up photography, then i won't have so many gaps in my self-taught experience. :D

I was there this year end-March for 6D/5N. Volunteered to be kidnapped (just for the adventure of it). But they never turn up.

May be it cost more to feed me than the ransome itself . :bsmilie:
