thanks Far far away... just observed that my 15-85mm like not so sharp... jz callled CSC. Either bring this lens or maybe rent 11-16mm if I got the extra cash :) Got any tips for me in europe ? Sorry for hijacking =p

Hi droozy. No problem. You might want to calibrate the 15-85mm lens at CSC with your camera. Happened to my 17-55mm too when I first got it. After calibration it was fantastic!

Tips for Europe? You might want to see a few posts up when I replied to TS. Gave quite a lot of tips about safety and shopping. Go check it out. :)

I see. Dun recommend the sigma 12-24mm? 16-35 is out, too ex, out of my budget.

Sent from my iPhone using ClubSNAP

Why not? I like that lens. Just that the f4-5.6 aperture may mean more tripod shots.

I am so sad! I am skipping Spain due to time constraint. :( And I still haven decide what lens to get! Hee.

And have been hearing scary stories about Europe! About the pickpocket and stuff! :)

Was using Tokina 11-16, now on 16-28, love the f2.8... ha ha

Hey Jazzmint,

Oh why are you skipping Spain? Actually from the itinerary you described previously, Spain do look quite out of the way if you buy return air ticket. However it shld be fine if you buy one way tixs. My wife and I flew on 1 way tic from SG to Amsterdam and travelled all the way throughout the few cities and finally flew back from Milan. Cost a bit more but we want the flexibility lah. Not to mention the shopping in Milan!

Well maybe you do not need a new lens. Try to work with whatever you have first? Photos with high noise is still better than no photos mah. Save the money for shopping! :)

Don't read too much lah. You will scare yourself silly which was what happened to us back in 2008. Turned out was quite ok. Keep an alert eye and watch your surroundings at all times. Got buddy then take turns to take photo while the other watch. Europe is beautiful and the thieves especially love tourists who get "lost" in the beautiful surroundings. Be safe and enjoy yourself!!!

Hey droozy,

Calibration required from 3 days to a week, depending on the volume at CSC. I got lucky the first time when I calibrate my old 550D with 17-55mm, collected the following day I sent it in. Second time with my 60D took 3 days. So depends lah. Calibration is free for warranty set I think. Not too sure about those out of warranty though. Anyone can confirm on this?

Think they will say it's ok so that you will not bring it in bah. Don't care just say it is soft and get them to calibrate loh. Hehe..

Cause Spain is a bit out of the way! :( but never mind at least I get to go Italy! :)

I dun intend to shop! Hee not the shopping type, taking this trip as photography trip! But I think if the shopping is tempting, might dive in!

Will need to buy insurance first! Have 10 extra pair of eyes to look out. Haha

Many churches, catherals, palace and museums in europe do not allow flash photography or shooting with tripod.

Thus if you are going to take a fair bit of pics in these location, I think you should consider carrying a fast zoom lens with IS or a fast prime lens to cover low light situation.. :)

If you are just shooting interior, a zoom with IS should works well. But if you are going with someone else and may be taking some portraiture shots, then I ll suggest bringing along a fast prime lens as well.. :)

I brought my 7D+17-40, Tokina 11-16. Ended up I din really need to use the tokina as 17-40 is ggod enuf forall my shoots. By the way, I travel to spain and portugal with it.
