lol, here we go again...
"5dmk2 af is perfectly fine, just look at those award winning photos, tons of them are from 5dmk2!!"
"5dmk3 is too expensive, the extra features are not worth the price difference!!"
"5dmk3 won't give you the perfect-shot skill over the night!!"
"no intention to upgrade, my 5dmk2 is great i don't need high fps, I don't need so many af points!"

ppl nowadays are getting weird.
before 5dmk3 was launched, a lot of ppl shouting they want 7d af system on 5d they don't mind paying additional money for that.
now canon give you much better specs, you say it's too expensive
before 5dmk3 was launched, a lot of ppl got no choice have to go for 1dmk4/mk3 because cannot afford 1dsmk3 for the better af system.
now canon give you 1dx features on smaller body at much cheaper price, you still say it's expensive.

Really cannot understand those people...

To me, 5dmk3 definitely worth the price for the ISO and AF system performance alone.

First time to post here... and I agree with the above observation.. a typical example of "Damn if you do, damn if you don't".

But I think it is to be expected that some of the whining will be coming from the 5D2 users. They will try to justify the value of their current cam body against the 5D3.. the specs that most of us have been yearning since the introduction of the 5D2. But 5D2 is still an excellent camera... and it is not practical to upgrade just yet if this cam still satisfies most of our shooting needs. But for me, since I am still using a 400D/40D bodies for years now, this 5D3 upgrade is a big leap for me. These are the specs I really want that I held back in upgrading to 5D2 a year ago. So definitely I will start saving and purchase this one.. but will wait for few months first for the price to stabilize and reviews to come out. :)

People buy for their own reasons. After all the waiting, I will skip this one and probably will never come back to dslr again. Cheers.

A question for those who have pre-ordered the 5DIII already: will you be paying MSRP or street price?

I can tell you, nobody knows. Cos even the retailers have no idea what's the MSRP. But for sure, they will be selling at a price lower than Canon.

Live reporting from Tokyo (just reach this morning). 5D3 published price in Japan is:

Body only: ¥356,000
Kit set: ¥456,000

Convert it to SGD, give it some 3% discount and that is likely the RRP price in SG. 3% cos I notice Japan's RRP is about 3% more expensive than SG's RRP.

That's about 5,300 SGD body only... :ipuke:

Yes.. WHEN I took my HP out and do the conversion myself.. I walked off without a 2nd look lol. The price is madness..

Yen.. I typed the yen symbol. Does it show on your side (the yen symbol)? Cos the onther bro's quote shows the yen symbol but when you quote me, there isnt any symbol.. Haha..

No it doesn't, viewing from my iPad maybe that's why. Look on the bright side, if the price is really so high in sg, it means 5D2 resale value will hold better, good for current 5D2 owners like myself. :)

i dont think its accurate to take Yen dollars to match with SG selling price..
Camera stuffs in Japan are very very expensive..(Not just Canon..)

Very very very few ppl will buy the 5D3 if more than SGD5k!! :O Even at SGD4k+, it's already madness n lots of ppl r complaining already... if 5k+, then can forget it!

Oh, have I mentioned, very very very very very few?

It depends.. You cam go to both Canon JP and Canon SG and pick some lens to compare the RRP. Yes JP's price is more expensive but it won't be miles away.. Say if you convert 356,000JPY to SGD, that's about 5.5k to 5.8k depending on FX rates. How cheaper can SG's RRP be? I guess at most SGD$500.

Another sign: Top up another $100,000JPY for the kit set. Convert this to SGD, it is about SGD$1,550 plus minus for that kit lens. Which is fairly reasonable and close to the top up required to get a 5D2 kit set with the 24-105L.

I asked a sales person at the local product launch. She said it will be definitely below S$5k...

You need to be more optimistic.

Nope, I am just being pragmatic. 356k Yen isn't a joke even we know Japan is expensive. And the priced published in other region like Europe/US also shows that it won't be a cheap unit. Very likely to be 4.5k SGD and above.

Ok this is better ;)

I hope so too, haha.. :bsmilie:

But still probably quite out of reach for some serious ametures/hobbyists who wants a good FF camera.

Well, like they all say... There's still 5D2 for them...
