I guess the most gainers will be those who go from crop to FF rather than those who go from Mk2 to Mk3...

With so many AF pts, would anyone (after buying) still play with the AF pts while composing? I mean as in not moving the aim but just moving the AF pts?

You're right...even though mk3 has 61 point AF, but if they are still placed very centered, not much purpose also..

Er, canon only launch yesterday leh!

Well, the 1Dx got announced last year and there is still no price.

Is there any logic why 5D3 is targetted to be in the market earlier than 1Dx? I hope they won't delay the 5D3 like they did with 1Dx...

lol, here we go again...
"5dmk2 af is perfectly fine, just look at those award winning photos, tons of them are from 5dmk2!!"
"5dmk3 is too expensive, the extra features are not worth the price difference!!"
"5dmk3 won't give you the perfect-shot skill over the night!!"
"no intention to upgrade, my 5dmk2 is great i don't need high fps, I don't need so many af points!"

ppl nowadays are getting weird.
before 5dmk3 was launched, a lot of ppl shouting they want 7d af system on 5d they don't mind paying additional money for that.
now canon give you much better specs, you say it's too expensive
before 5dmk3 was launched, a lot of ppl got no choice have to go for 1dmk4/mk3 because cannot afford 1dsmk3 for the better af system.
now canon give you 1dx features on smaller body at much cheaper price, you still say it's expensive.

Really cannot understand those people...

To me, 5dmk3 definitely worth the price for the ISO and AF system performance alone.

Anyone knows how long can video taking lasts for a clip on 5Dmk3? 1Dx is max 30 mins per clip.

I agree with you... People just like to complain when the new camera is over their budget.

For me, I save up for it even though the price is over my expectations. Why? Because I feel it is leaps and bounds better than 5D2.

I gave my 5D2 away now I am missing it .

Get over it by buying the D800.

Too late, I am totally invest in canon now.

Anyone who talk based on specs are based on technicality. But when this comes from your mouth, it makes lots of difference because you have actually handled it. And quite frankly, all those who have handled it says the same thing.

So glad for me, it is an easy decision. Those 5DII owners will have a tough choice because their current camera has just dropped to historical low price in resale market. Many might say negative things abt the markIII in hope that the MkII won't lose it's value.

For anyone who already have intention to get a new FF and not holding on to mkII, it seems quite logical to go straight to the mkIII if they have already set a budget, maybe just delay buying a couple of months to save that additional dollar. Just my thoughts, others may differ.

Thanks for supporting my statement.

I'm not sure about the intentions of those who play down 5D Mark III. Perhaps:

1) they never handled it and only read tech specs online. Felt that it is not too much of an upgrade.

2) they handled it, expected it to be cheaper and realized that it is way off their budget. Might as well stay or buy a 5D2.

3) they are already aiming for the high megapixel Nikon D800 or the superior 1D X. I got nothing to say lah...

4) any combination of the above

Agree with you, bro. Don't complain it's too ex, simple solution is just don't buy it. Buy one that you can afford and be happy using it, that's all.

For me, I will buy 5d3 before this May

True...maybe Canon is playing a cat n mouse game with Nikon? Each waiting for the other to 'showhand' first...

I think those who went for the product launch yesterday have an extra reason to buy the 5D3 early (before end May 12)... Cos of the 25% battery grip voucher from Canon lol.

This pretty much confirm it will be in store on scheduled time :)

To me, the 5D3 does not make sense. If you take Landscape, why do you need 6 fps and 61 AF points? On the other hand, for action/wildlife photography, you would prefer a crop sensor to extend the reach of your lenses.

By trying to be everything to everyone, it will probably be neither here nor there.

My opinion is that if you are serious about landscape photography, the D800E is the best bet.

For action/wildlife, stick to the 1D (not Ds) series.

If you are not sure, the 7D is a good overall camera.

Remember, the best camera is the one you have! :)

Hmmm...and the D800E needs 51AF points and 4.6fps to shoot landscapes?

Sounds rather stupid but do u think any other 5D3 buyers (who weren't invited yesterday) would also get that voucher upon purchasing of 5D3?

Maybe we might see some vouchers show up on BnS as May approaches :bsmilie:
