incidentally, i had a friend who told me it's uch cheaper to go everywhere in a cab than to own and maintain a car.

so lsi, you might want to consider that option.

Is it the Portrait Master

That's what PAs are for

I'm the PA with the car so normally everything is with me... strobes and gear :bsmilie:

unfortunately, my PA only works for me during office hours.
with the occasional running of errands based on friendship.

but for shoots, ermm....pai seh lah...

:bsmilie: I always have volunteers when I say I am shooting a model :bsmilie:

Try Latio. I am getting 13km/l consistant and I am light footed. Its a nice and spacious car, also looks is a bit boxish.

It is not a car if you are the chiong type.

Take minimal loan if you want to buy car. If you are borrowing, then I say taxi is more worth it. Anyways, prepare to pay at least 1k per month for any car.

i will volunteer myself too haha!

any OT liao..back to bro lsisaxon topic about car.

in fact, if you do the math, taking cab everyday is still the cheapest way.

lsi,

latio is a good consideration too if you willing to fork out a little more.

the low end is good.(1st 2 gears).it's really responsive, and relatively spacious.
(i'm referring to the sports hatch model).

+, the keyless entry is good, especially if you need to help your wife with the baby bag, the stroller.

My gf's mum drives a latio... a good family car :)

This is the latio they shld sell :bsmilie:

u actually weigh a d3 to a car?

please my dear...
no need to think.
CAR.

think of the convenience.

dunno about you, but i certainly would not go into photography if i dont have a car.
there's absolutely no way i'm going to lug my gear and go public.

Hahaha... Having a car would mean that there are more accessible locations for my shoot. My gear very simple.. so public transport will do fine also. ;p

the only inconvenience i guess is when you want one, you wait for ages(during peak and shift changing period).

other than that, i believe cabs are really cheaper than owning a car.and you dont have to worry about maintenance, finding a parking lot, dings and dents, and blah...

ya..forgot to mention about finding parking lot... sometime it is soooo diffucult to find a lot... if u are driving down to downtown area with family, end up u need to drop them at the taxi stop then drive to look for parking (far far away).

another consideration is sgp's population is estimated to hit 6 million.
and with the number of people owning cars...i think in future we'll just be another bangkok.

and expect ERP to hit even much higher than $5 in the near future.

it's sad but that's life in sgp.sometimes, i wish i'm rich enough to take a copter to work.

How about getting a cheapo 10 year COE car to build up your insurance NCD before getting a first hand car? Fully pay off the 10+ year old car and you could buy a thrid party only insurance. Much much cheaper in that sense and you could build up the NCD.

But.. then againl.. if u're as classy and upmarket as Jeanie.. you wouldn't be looking at cars with this kinda price range.
Go for a 350Z Fairlady instead... 2nd hand @ SGcarmart is ard 80+K. quite a steal for such a nice looking car. Too bad, you will have to pay a lot for the road tax on this one and it couldn't accomodate your baby..

Not for me... If I take cab to office everyday and drop my wife off at hers, it will come up to about $600. That's only a single trip each day. A return trip will cost double, that doesn't include weekend trips elsewhere.

Sometimes it's hell trying to get a taxi during peak... it gets even more exasperating when some other people who just arrived walk a few metres in front of you and then beat you to a
cab when you've been waiting for about 15min there. Worse when you need to bring the baby to PD because he's running a fever!
