What is your walk around lens?

That's a 100-400mm - the 28-300mm is even larger I believe.

My personal choice : 24-105mm on a 1.6x crop. But occasionally 10-22mm.

That's definitely a 100-400 as 28-300's hood is a flower one.

Actually i have 2 'walkaround' lenses now. 17-40 on my 5D and 70-200 on my 10D.

No one really expects it to be superb, as long as it covers a really wide range
