Canon EF-s 18-55 f/3.5-5.6

Come on guys. The question is about walk-around lens. It is troublesome to walk-around when you have several lenses at hand. Specify only one.

17-40 F4L is my choice.

either the 50mm f/1.4 or the 17-40L.

Hehe, your pet cat so cute . So you guys will swap a tele when you need the range right? Actually, I've been wondering if I should get the 50mm f1.8 prime when I already have the 18~55mm. I know the prime is much sharper but is it really that worth it?

i know that many CS members are of the opinion that everyone 'must' have a 50mm prime - and the f1.8 is so 'cheap and small' you might as well buy it.... but beware..... you will love it so much you want to get the 50 1.4 or 50L....

;) he's so right, once u get the 50 1.8, u are on the way to the 1.2L BBB virus :bsmilie:

oh for me my walk around is going to be 17-40 as i cant live without landscape :D

For me i only use my 50mm for portraits. :)

I think some people have various walkaround lenses. Does not mean they bring more than one.

I do bring just 1 lens now and again, but it could be 10-22 or 17-40 or 24-85 or 18-55IS depending on the situation and type of shots.

My Tamron. Hardly use the tele lens as i prefer taking wide shot.

Of course, the 2.8 aperture is really useful too.

:( My bag is way too small so I bring just the sigma 28-300 mm. Why? Because it allows me to spy on people from far, far away and still take normal wide-angle-ish pictures. Image quality suffers a bit though.

Yup, that's my case, i love my F1.8 till i sold it to get the F1.4 for a price ~5x more expensive!

For me it would be the faithful 18-55 with a wide angle adapter in my pocket, haha. true, the adapter is not as good as the real lens, but it does widen the shot abit so you can fit most of what you want in to the shot, nice effects if you know how to use it well.

after alot of though .... decided that ... 24-70 f2.8 is my walk about lens... + many aching fingers ;p

24-70L for me too, have gotten used to the weight and size. Good hand/ wrist training as well, hah

24-105 F4 L for me. sometimes 50 F1.4 on full frame.

I have the 50mm f1.8 prime.

For the price and image quality, its worth it alright ;)

Value for money!

24-105 f4L, 90% of the time!

24-105mm will have issue at dim environment right? example like wedding or dinner events... cos i caught in a fix on what lens to buy for my walk around... should i go f2.8 categories?

In very dim conditions, even f/2.8 is not enough.
