Various landscape photos

i love #89 bro, felt that 90B HDR abit overdone (can see the halo leh)

Ah okay... I think this is the missing link that I am looking for. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction

Yes, they look very unnatural after adjustments

Something is wrong with #87 also, but I haven't quite figured out... what??

It is also the same thing. It is too long. You can either stretch it sideways, or compress it from top to bottom. One thing to note is also that the distortion is not equal in the whole pic. The top of the pic is more stretched than the bottom part. So it is up to you how you want to handle the rescaling, or to do a compromise. By the way, use the transform tool in PS for this.

And one more thing, the grass, land portion is too little in my opinion. Try to compose more of it for a more balance view. When taking pictures you know you will correct for lens distortion, it is best to take a wider view so you have room left for you to do your correction and crop.

:bsmilie: Thomas..U have us mixed up! wildcat is my other half..He's the one who is crazy with verticals and lines..I'm the one who just love dream and get highhhhhh...... :)

oopppssss...so sorry guys..pai say pai say! :embrass:

My feel the same; prefer #90A which seems more natural :dunno: I have since learnt about Highlight Smoothing, which I will try next time, to reduce halo.

Okay thanks. There's actually not much grass after that.. it was part of the side road already, and I was planning to focus mainly on the fountain and surrounding area, thus I got rid of the rest of the picture beyond what is shown. The guard there was a bonus; ZeroCoolAstra group whom I was with will know what happened - we were not allowed to take on "that side" of the side road, but can do so from the field area. So I took my time packing up my stuff to move... while my camera was finishing it's 30secs long exposure :p

The half-half decision I had to make was whether to include as much of the "extended" pole, or to chop it off halfway (since my focus is on the fountain anyway).

Haha. Hope you still think the picture is passable! I think of Zul as my evil twin (I hope he thinks the same of me) as we basically are moving along very similarly in our learning process; our cameras, lens setups, filters, tripods, heads... even the amount of risk we take in tripod placement

:bsmilie: Yeah you're as evil as I am man! Hey but I did one better at Macritchie! Care to top that Bern? hehe..Seriously without you and few others my journey in photography would have stalled abruptly. You are a gd hearted man,but evil nonetheless! :)

And some new pictures I took during Kit's outing.

#94 - the only pix I liked with some selective increased saturation

#94 is top-class!

I love the way the buildings 'pop' out with respect to the sky.
I think once the MBS convention centre is complete, it will be a really great pano location, where you're shooting from.

I like #92's colour tone.
You found the right position to "get rid" of Raffles Hospital, yet keep the perspective nice.

It's actually an IR picture. :)

Thanks. I think quite a number of us were trying to get that only spot of colour in the sky and without post-processing, it wouldn't have been possible (it looked quite good on camera screen but on monitor was kinda )

This was the scene with the orange on the left... after that, I tried to reproduce, the orange is gone already. Time was 7.06am, picture was a 207sec exposure (was supposed to be 180s but I was late in running back to stop the timer)

#94b: damn power....
I prefer the slightly warmer tones compared to #95

I could stare at it all day...... ~daydreaming~

The sky in 95 and the tones in 94B for me!!..:thumbsup:
maybe you can try edit it again hehehe
I think this pic is the most edited one for you so far :)

Haha. No :nono: I don't think I am going to combine the two (for now... who knows, maybe will be bored next week since I am not taking any photos this week.. still a lot of things to learn in PS). Thanks for your feedback on FB also.

@ZCA: lucky shot counts too. I tried various settings but couldn't get again (orange setting gone, too bright and sky overblown). RAW file has too much brown cast from using ND110 that I couldn't correct properly. So I have to thank Nikon for being a good camera and jpeg processor.

I might still try (because I don't like that overblown section in the sky) when I learn more Photoshop. Dodge and burn, maybe :dunno:

#99 - more oil spill cleanup photos

#100 - played with curves. This was a single picture with no exposure blending (which I did for the last three photos).
4653168464_8616002228_b.jpg

Exposure: 20secs
Aperture: f/11.0
Focal Length: 10 mm
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV
ISO Speed: 200

As usual, criticism is welcomed for all my photos as I am just learning how to do this.
