[ Vanity ] Olympus EM-5 accessories thread

i took it out b4, and most probably didn't fit it completely in.

a check on olympus online store shows it's in-stock...need to ask later

dropped my eye piece :(

any1 knows where i can get ep-11 ?

Try ebay:

OFFICIAL Olympus eyecup EP-11 for OM-D E-M5 | eBay

Olympus EP-11 Eyecup for OM-D E-M5 NEW | eBay

Quite an indispensable item. Besides giving extra stability with eye rested on it and shielding off stray light, it also prevents accidental activation of the EVF sensor when using the LCD Touch Screen.

Just make sure you hear a click sound when you push it in to lock it.

Cheers.

What is the soft button good for?

it is for easier pressing of the button, expecially when you half press.

don't know how to explain, you can feel it if you have one.

managed to reserve the las piece...phew

you reserved ep-11, congrates.

by the way, is ep11 eyepiece suppose to be the same eye piece from OMD Body, or is it the expended eye piece?

anyone have a pic of the extended eye piece fixed on the OMD?

EP-11 is the extended eye cup. I am also looking to buy one as I find the original one too shallow.

Did someone try it already?

I had one installed. Soft rubber, stick out around 14mm. Almost look like Lumix G3 from the side view.

You will have to remove the original attached rubber eye piece before installing it.

No pic to show as cam body is not with me now.

Advisable to get one for the following reasons:
1) Extra stability with eye rested on it.
2) Shield off stray light.
3) Prevents accidental activation of the EVF sensor when using the LCD Touch Screen.

Hope that helps. Cheers.

I don't think stray light is an issue with EVF, unlike with actual SLRs. There is no light path back to the sensor through the eye-piece unless you mean to the EVF itself. I don't find that to be a problem even with the standard eye-piece.

Ok, stray light may not be the appropriate word.

Shuts out extraneous light. (Lifted from Olympus Homepage):

Another advantage I find is it also helps keep my face and nose from touching the LCD screen when looking through the EVF.

ep-11 is really big compare to the original eye piece.
it feels reasonable soft too, so it's not a chunky piece of plastic.

it extends out quite a bit.
i do not wear glasses and i tried lookin through the EVF.
face does not need to stick on the lcd screen now.

hv not shot with this ep-11, so i reserve the comments for it later.

bought it for sgd30 from olympus @ valley point, i was told it's the last piece.

also,...no stock for the batt

I have to say that is one major advantage! ;) Don't have to keep cleaning the facial oils off the LCD screen.

On a more serious note, it is supposed to make the EVF (which is essentially a miniature LCD screen) more visible under bright sunlight.

The default eye cup seems very shallow and the small LCD seems very expose.
sometimes i have the urge to screen protect the EVF mini LCD screen.

Will get the ep11 if stock arrive, I think i need one.

hi ijnek,

thanks for the pics, did olympus mention when the stock for ep11 coming again.

sorry, i didn't ask abt tat...or the batt...should hv asked abt the batt

It's called a UV filter. Can buy from any reputable shop. 52mm thread size I think.

Ur lens filter size is 52mm, most camera shops sell these filters, cheap ones will cost 15? Harvey Norman, Challenger etc all have it.
