I will agree on the Pana 14-45 mm too! Good lens for the money.

Thanks for the advise on the lens. 12-35/12-40 value is out of my approval limit and require approval from Domestic Financial Controller,
which will never happen. So, will have to make do with 14-45.

Looking through BnS, I concluded that a EP5 + Pana 14-45 will be about $900+. Now, maybe can switch to Stylus 1 instead, 28-300mm at F/2.8
is very attractive.

Choices, choices, choices ........

The 14-45 will do nicely until it's time for an upgrade :) Oly's rumored to be releasing an updated 14-42 kit zoom too, will be curious to know about its performance for its price point.

If choosing the Stylus 1, do note that though it does give massive flexibility in zoom range , IQ wise it will never match the capabilities of what the EP5 sensor can do. This really depends on oneself coming to understanding your needs.

It is a NEED or a WANT question ?

Hopefully, there will be an answer after this Friday TOTO draw .......

Sounds good..Although i already have a wireless remote.

but with the app, you can frame what you are taking via your phone / tablet / ipad in (almost) real time and snap it when you want to.

Hi all, have just taken my first step to m43 with EP-5. Love the compact size with 17/1.8.

Have accustomed to the basic functions. However, I couldn't find a particular setting, hope that someone can advise.

On the OMD EM-x, it's possible to tap on the LCD to focus and shoot. Can EP-5 do the same? Have been going thru the manual and tinkering with the cam but couldn't seem to find such function.

TIA.

Of course , it's one of the reasons that made EP5 & the 17/1.8 combi superb for street shooting.

I'm assuming yours is totally switched off.
Hence go Menu -- Custom menu -- menu K -- touch screen setting -- change to 'On'

Once done , u will see this button (in green color) on screen left side , can change between to tap at spot to focus only or tap at spot to focus n release shutter.

Enjoy :)

Thanks. Got it with the help of your pic. I was on tap to focus only.

Having done that, the cam exposure seem fixed on center of the frame regardless of where I tap. Is there a way to lock the exposure on the spot tapped?

Eh ..
I don't really understand your question ... Lock exposure regardless where u tap ? Hmm

Example would be something like below. I tapped on the guy and the AF locks on him, but the exposure is under for this case due to bright background. Anyway to set such that the exposure also link on the AF spot?

Hmm, I'll have used AEL in this case ; to lock in the exposure from another more suitable spot or simply have changed the EV values to compensate straightaway.

I haven't tried this , but maybe what can be done is use the 'press to focus button' on screen on a spot which u wan exposure values for, press AEL, then move to recompose on spot u wish then press screen to lock focus at the exposure values u want before shooting. Another way is to use exposure bracketing :)

You probably set the exposure metering to evaluative, you can try spot metering (but this would be in the middle as well) so you meter and focus subject by half depress and then recompose. Else another way, if you prefer evaluative metering still, is to set one of the function buttons to AEL, and use Keith's method. That's what I would normally do, maybe some have better ways.

One of my best friends finally back ;)

Pls bring it back to Oly Svc Ctr , I have no idea how u got a fingerprint on the sensor ._. but it won't be worth it if u damage the sensor trying to clean it yourself.

There is a supersonic wave filter (SSWF) mounted in front of the imaging sensor. It is a very thin membrane that vibrate when the camera is turned on every time. It's function is to bounce off dusts. Do not attempt to self service. You could damaged the sensor and warranty may be voided because of this. Bring it back to the service centre to seek professional assistance.
