Hey guys usually how do u go test a camera before buying. I mean it's not really nice to go into a shop and try and not buy.
Really interested in the ep5, but the deal breaker for me is the shutter sound. Hope it's super soft (I sneak up on ppl alof haha).
If not might have to consider the gm1

Don't have to feel bad about it so long as u r sincere abt buying end of the day.

it's your hard earned money. Alternatively u can drop by Olympus Svc Centre where they've most models (even lenses) on display just for u to try and shoot. No one breathing down on u too.
Shutter sound ... Hmm , well , u can hear it but loudness is subjective. I do street shooting and so far all ok. If u prefer silent , electronic shutter is the way to go but note the pros and cons.

Also I am really new to Olympus, what the difference between the ep-5 and the epl-5.

In short the EP5 is the Pen flagship model with specs all better than the EPL5 down to minute differences like shorter shutter lag. Construction wise the EP5 is much better built too.
There r 3 Pen product lines basically with EP as the flagship line for users who prefer access to most camera settings , EPL's more for users who prefer the smaller size / lighter weight and EPM's for the really really casual shooters who just wana aim and shoot.
That said EPL5's a very good camera, it boils down to the type of user u r.
Hold them both at Oly Ctr and u will instantly feel the diff.

Big difference is the size, weight and handling. EPL5 is lighter and more compact. EP5 is more clunky and heavier. Wat Keith mentioned are all true. The EP5 is a better camera but its also a bigger one. But the better specs may not mean much to people practically who do not pixel peep.

Sounds good, was wondering how will oly work with pany lenses.
I know I will lose the ca correction, but how about af speed, is it affected in any way?
I don't think so.
Don't think I've ever seen anyone testing out this way too , kinda bewilders the mind but I've used the 25/1.4 , 20/1.7 , 14/2.5 , 14-45 , 12-35 and 7-14 all Pana lenses on Oly bodies and never ever felt that I was losing AF speed.
Awesome...also wondering if I bought the camera in Japan. The warranty all this can use in Singapore?. Also the menu can change language?

TS I would like to borrow your page to ask a question of the EP series.
I own an EP2 for 3 months and I saw EP3 came and bought the EP3 thinking to sell the EP2, but I got stuck with the EP2 and eventually give to my daughter-in-law. I visited second hand stores offered me a throw away price or even some do not want to offer a price. After a year later now I am seeing you guys enjoying the EP5. I would like to go for the OMD weather proof camera and the 12-40mm lens, but I need to find a away to sell my EP3.
I am not thinking of getting EP5 because it is not a all weather camera and I always stuck with the kid lens that I do not use. OMD-10 last I saw is in my mind and I hope I can get body only deal.
Any advice?
