Durai deserves his money
sure his business sense wasn't appropriate for an entity like NKF that should be more accountable to the public
but he sure as hell made NKF a force to reckon with
which any other company would love.

That's what i tot! and I wish my company had the ability to employ him. :(

if you consider that personal interests outweighs every other thing, even in a charity operating at national level, well yes he deserves his money. but that will also mean that there's no reason for charities to exist, it's everyone for himself/herself.

It's NDF (National Durai Foundation) for him. :)

Yup...people seem to have forgotten that when it was investigated...for every S$1 NKF collects...only 10 cents goes to helping the people.

The other 90 cents went into the tin can and disappeared? :bsmilie:

He should be featured in that bank commercial tastefully done in monochrome...it ends with the narrator saying: "...And You Live The Privileged Life" ;p

What make it unique? Do you have comparision against other equivilant charities.

What about those $$$ spent on equipments and infrastructure. (not forgetting the "reserves").

What I'm against is the extravagant spending on "wants" rather then focusing on the "needs". Of course his self fufilling ethics begs to question especially when running such organisaion.

Can also go and work for him in Abu Dhabi mah. :)

I am lost for words...dunno what to say liao...

More good years ahead.

The equipment and infrastructure you talking about is If I recall correctly just that...it all came mainly from that 10 cent. What the other balance 90 cent was used for was on maintain the existence of the comapny, expansion plan, building more facility and (nice) offices, salary and other interesting stuff like... over-quoted outsource projects ..etc. If someone else here can recall it better then me please feel free to chip in...there is a stipulation by the Govt as a guideline as to how much for every dollar has to be set up for actually helping as opposed to funds for expansion, maintening the facilitys, equipment..etc.

To qualify as a charity organisation, there has to be terms and condition to follow in order to qualify for such status of company It is not just about "wants". It is about greed that ticks me off....if not why are so many members of the board of director charged in court one after the other? What's the use of making the company look good, build nice buildings and offices when in the end, the number of people they are actually helping could have been alot more if they( not just about TT but the entire board) just back off heav spending on the "sugar coating" aspect of running the charity organisation. Utimately, is that not what they were suppose to do....help the people in need.

And even now, some might say since he will be working in a profit making company far removed from a charitable company..those "qualities" he has will be okay in that context. Knowing what you know now about his past "sense of business" who would even trust him to deal commercially with him(or the comapny he represent)... or...knowing who and what he is capable of, I guess if they want something "nasty" or questionable done, I guess Durai is your man.

Anyway....only time will tell what awaits this man of the hour. Where he's heading...it is not like Singapore. How they deal with people of his kind when caught with their hand in the cookie jar...we can only imagine.

This chap is even better than the SIA guy & Tyco lady! They went behind bars & stayed there.
Even before he goes into jail, a cushy high paying job is waiting for him.
What is 4 months jail? Probably squat for 3 months plus, get out, jet to UAE liao.
Teflon coated!

I think his name means a fortunate man instead of a charitable man. :bsmilie:

Although i am very against his actions of embazzlement and stuff, let us all remember, if not for him NKF may not have been so successful. imho, NKF was the most "successful" charity organization. However, I stress again, i do not condone his actions!

Let's just wish him all the best in the UAE and bring glory to the Singapore company. After all, he did a good job bringing the NKF to a much higher level.

I agree. imagine if 30cts have been put in, we could have at least 2times or 3 times the number of kidney patients receiving treatments. Also I heard of stories where people got rejected by NKF, and it didnt end well...

We should learn to forgive.... but for someone without remorse.... it takes a longer time then a couple of years.

NAH...let his karma take care of him.

this fellow probably know too many top people in singapore to be locked up for too long.

I really wonder how his new colleagues will look at him in the office...
Bros...imagine, he is your new colleague and you gotta sit at the meeting table with him, or gotta join him for lunch next time???

i cant imagine myself asking this (if durai and myself are in the same office)

"Durai...1pm liao leh, ai jiak mai?????"

personal interests? he ran NKF like a business and made it pretty big. Wrong company, he shouldn't have done it at a charity, that's what Im saying
I'm also saying that he obviously has the skills to run a company, so $25,000 for his job is not exactly such a great deal
anyway he has to pay off his debts right?

also, you may want to do a a little research into charities.
10 cents for every dollar is not the worst ratio for a charity
plus don't forget the endless hours of entertainment he provided you through those channel 8 charity shows.

I don't condone his actions, but I sure as hell think that some guys here are just acting like moral zealots.
Anything to do with children, poor people, old people, starving people, seem to get many people on their pedestal of morality.

This is a high-level conspiracy.

i agree to a certain extent

which would you prefer
a guy who generates 10 million and scoops 5 million for himself

or a guy who generates 1 million and scoops 20,000 for himself
