There are some very nice colors in that image. I initially guessed high contrast slide film - Fuji Provia or Velvia comes to mind. Is it processed or straight-out-of-cam?
Not to start an argument, I agree that compact cameras can produce truly excellent images, but the 'big guns' prove their worth under difficult circumstances where the small cameras don't hold up as well. I use both - Panasonic FX38 when not carrying the big ones. (not even LX3 )
Levels, resizing and cropping was done in PS.
I do understand limitations between consumer compacts and DSLRs but between consumer DSLRs and prosumer DSLRs, I find that the gap is too a little too narrow to justify (apart from the "I can afford" & I like the little bits of extras" part)...
Honestly, I would probably be shooting similar standard photos if I were using a 1000D and a 50D which is where I feel that the difference would be least in terms of camera body...
