Top Five Most Wanted Photography Gear

There are some very nice colors in that image. I initially guessed high contrast slide film - Fuji Provia or Velvia comes to mind. Is it processed or straight-out-of-cam?

Not to start an argument, I agree that compact cameras can produce truly excellent images, but the 'big guns' prove their worth under difficult circumstances where the small cameras don't hold up as well. I use both - Panasonic FX38 when not carrying the big ones. (not even LX3 :p)

Levels, resizing and cropping was done in PS.

I do understand limitations between consumer compacts and DSLRs but between consumer DSLRs and prosumer DSLRs, I find that the gap is too a little too narrow to justify (apart from the "I can afford" & I like the little bits of extras" part)...

Honestly, I would probably be shooting similar standard photos if I were using a 1000D and a 50D which is where I feel that the difference would be least in terms of camera body...

What is your say? :)

i would say it's a PnS...most probably prosumer, and some photoshop done

Just out of curiousity...

Do you guys think that by just having a 5DMkII or 1DMkIII or 1DsMkIII or D3 your pictures would really improve that much?

Does the camera really make the difference?

What do you feel are the limitations of your current camera bodies?

To me yes, previously any manual lens is useless on my D70 because the viewfinder is too tiny for me to focus accurately...also the LCD is too small for me to inspect my shots...ever since I upgraded to D700...the manual focus problem fixed...I just picked up a 85mm f2 AIS for $250 yesterdat and it works superply...it is also a substantial saving over the more expensive AFD

This photo lacks details, pixelated even at tihs resolution tells me it is a handphone photo at 2mp or less

actually hor a D300 can also do the job
in fact other than the small viewfinder, high ISO noise and LCD on the D70, it is a capable camera

my choice shld be:

1) A Bag bah....
2) AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED
3) Wide-Angle Lenses
4) Nikon SB-900
5) AF-S 50mm f/1.4?
