Even without reviews and sample images, I am willing to bet my $$$ on Tokina. Based on their optical quality and built quality track record, I might want to book it first.
Since the 16-50 f/2.8 is jointly developed by Tokina and Pentax, you won't be seeing this lens until March 2007 (probably May for Singapore) when Pentax is ready to release their version. As for Tokina having a good track record, I am afraid only their recent offerings of 12-24 f/4 and 100 f/2.8 macro have earned good reviews. But I am sure their 10-17 Fisheye, 16-50 f/2.8 and 50-135 f/2.8 are going to be really good optically.
Is it jointly developed?
yes it is, so is the fisheye zoom
best to ask CP or conduct an MO from overseas
