with a zoom like this, you'd most likely be shooting at 11mm most of the time.
Tokina ought to make a 11mm prime instead.
Nonetheless, I'm interested in this piece of glass.

11mm prime, now that sounds really interesting

Imagine, low FoV curvature and minimal barrel distortion, with a fast maximum aperture for artistic UWA usage. To top it all off, can be mounted on full-frame as well.

Committee has given thorough consideration of your proposation and dicided that its a good product idea. Please proceed with the development, use charge code 56694 with US$2 million budget.;p;p:bsmilie:

Looking forward for this lens. It will be a good replacement for my current Tokina 12-24mm f4. ;p

What is wrong with this lens? Looking forward to the new 11-16mm. Hope it is 10-16mm though

This 16-50 suffers seriously from CA when the preview was out afew months ago... Dont know whether any users got find whether it is true of not.

Tokina 16-50mm review (poor sharpness at f2.8)

sounds like my tokina 17mm f3.5 on my film camera

Its launching in Japan this Fri! Really hope to see some review and sample pics and of course the price.:)

quite keen to get this too... f2.8 is good!!

wanted to get tokina 12-24mm f4, since the news is out for 11-16 f2.8 i have to reconsider.
Not much review on it.
Any idea when will this glass reach our shore?

Very interesting lens indeed.... but if it suffers from CA through its range, then quite sad....

i've used a friend's tokinas before.

i think tokina seriously has CA problems.

never tried the 11-16 though.

the built is really tough, but the zoom ring is kinda stiff IMO.

Still no news about its availability ...
When i mentioned it in one of the local stores, they gave me a weird look; thought i mistook it for the 12-24
Now considering Sigma

i think tokina seriously has CA problems.

CA is not that much of an issue to me.

BUT flaring (e.g., on the 12-24 f/4) is a big problem for me. These ultrawide lenses are designed after all for outdoor landscape use.

If the 11-16 f/2.8 has EXCELLENT optical quality (sharpness from edge to edge when wide open, resistant to flare), I will consider getting one.

Been waiting for it man...Dunno what is the price.
