Hi guys, I'm intend to buy FZ28, could you pls tell me how much you get and where, what are the gift given? Thanks a lot:)

Welcome to our thread Garnett.

You can try John 3:16, Its on Funan at level 5, one shop that I'd recommend most to beginners, thus far, they're one shop that hasn't had any cases of 'scamming' reported against them, all the other shops have some bad practices on some level, best to avoid until you're firm with prices.

I'm not in position to comment on prices as I haven't been following, perhaps someone here may be able to advise you. In which case, if you have a budget, do consider also an FZ18, may be about $200 (brand new vs brand new) cheaper which nearly equivalent functions. The FZ28 does have better functions, however I feel that it is not worth $200 altogether, maybe a bit overrated. Going by that, I believe there is a member here going by Dickson Fung, looking to sell his FZ18 (or 28?) if i'm not wrong, you can ask him about it. $300 could be a fair price for a 2nd hand FZ18 today.

Thirdly, what made you decide on this camera? Its a good choice anyway. =) But still, however good an item, you should appreciate why you're buying it before buying it. I learnt this the hard way, so maybe you can share a bit on what do you plan to photogragh? And if its sound to get this camera.

Cheers!

yeah, the lumix workshop organised a trip there.. i think skyguy went for that..
yeah i can't make it.. gotta be at my church's christmas musical rehearsal...

sigh.. if it's possible, we can have another meet-up before clunk and amy leave!

YEA.. been there... was there in a hurry though... fz 18x zoom put into good use...

Hello all, Mr Ombre, how was your exam?, I trust you blizted it. One more to go?
It is a shame Coolzephyr cannot make it. I am keen to get some NYE fireworks shots also Jurong Bird Park and maybe the Zoo.
Also want to go into the city and buy a larger SD card or two and maybe a Raynox DCR 250
Will be happy to meet up with anyone for these other outings also.
This is the last week of school in Darwin and it has been pretty hectic finishing up at one school and getting ready to go to a new one. I have a full day at the new school for curiculum planning tomorrow then Thursday to finish packing up and Friday finishes at Lunch-time.
Then woo hoo it's holiday time for 6 weeks. Amy is staying until Feb 4 for CNY but my flight home is on Jan 9th.
Hopefully I can catch up with those that cannot make it on Dec 21 at some other time.
See you soon:)

will take note of that! we must have another meet up before you leave :)

you can't stay to celebrate chinese new year?

We can have a 2nd outing planned =)

Why don't you guys pick a date? I'm having holidays all the way till about 4 Jan I think, I should be easy. Even after 4th Jan... school is only like 3 hours and we can meet up for the rest =)

I feel like buying a 400 dollar lens... How?! Its not my dream lens, but its a cheaper alternative to my dream lens (its shorter)... =( my dream lens costs 1200. Figure i'd never get that. Haha.

Hi Miss Cool, no I cannot change my return date, I tried, but because it is school holidays in Oz all flights are full. I have to be back for start of new school year on Jan 27. Amy managed to change her return to Feb 4. The only silver lining is that I will have 3 weeks at home by myself. Might fly down to Perth to visit Mum and Dad for a few days.

I would be very happy to meet on any day that suits everyone else, so how about you pick a day and a venue.
It really makes me have a bit of a giggle when you guys say "Oh going there is so far!" I go 60km off shore to go fishing!

Do let me know when you go for the SD card or RAYNOX outing. I might be able to make it.:)

Oh gosh, Fishing! Please do not drop your cameras into the pond or expose them to any splatter.

Haha 60km is indeed a little far, but I sometimes walk as long as 20km to take pictures...

Exams over soon! 1 more day to go! And after that its BBB time, drats.

oh i tried fishing once and i really like it.. it's nothing nice to comment about though..i only did jiggling for small fishes...

clunk have u tried fly fishing before? nonsense question..im sure you have :p

Have I tried fly fishing? My dear, is the Pope Catholic? While I was at Uni I worked in one of Darwin's largest fishing tackle shops, I also wrote a weekly fishing column in a local newspaper. My pen name was the "Mad Mullet". I also repaired and built custom fishing rods for quite a few years.
I LOVE fishing.

Ah, Great lifestyle Rob... I'm glad you're happy about your achievements too! I am here going through book after book, reading mental disorders one after another... (83 to go through in total), on the brink of developing some of them myself... and wishing for the idyllic lives that others bask in...

And I'm buying a kit lens tomorrow! Finally I'll have wide angle again.

There is not a lot to do in Darwin if you do not like fishing. Unfortunately I do not get out on the water as often as I would like since I sold my boat. You see I was a poor Uni student (mature aged) and I made a trip to Singapore on my way to KL. I posted a note on a website in Singapore asking what could I do while stuck there for 48 hours. I got a lot of replies saying try the Night Safari, Sentosa, the Zoo. One person replied and asked for more specific times, and she would take some time off of work and show me her island. I met this lady at Jurong Bird Park and now she is my wife.
So after meeting her and only just starting my teaching job I had to sell my beloved boat to fund further trips to Singapore to win her heart. Seven years ago Amy moved to Darwin and we were married.
There you go, that makes it 84 mental disorders!!! :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Ah, I actually made it to 90 disorders.

Nice little romance you got there. Consider making a photo-montage of it?

Stress-mode activated!

yay..i was hoping you tell us how you met amy :)
i think i'll settle down fine in darwin :p

is darwin a nice place for hiking? i wish i can make it for the outing so i can ask you more!

Yeah there are a few National Parks (Kakadu and Litchfield ) a few hours drive from Darwin, also a few nature reserves a bit closer. Katherine Gorge is about three hours drive away and there are hiking trails and camping areas in the Park that enable 1- 4 day hikes. Quite rugged country along some large rivers. Some of the rivers are safe for swimming but I don't swim in rivers here because I think the crocodiles don't always know where they are not supposed to be. In the ocean you don't have to worry about crocodiles too much, the sharks usually eat them.:o

S, what time are you available? Maybe we can hang around longer to tailor to your timing?

I'm going out with a group of pros this tuesday for a Xmas lights shoot. If I learn some new tricks, I can share with you guys too. =) Justify for a reason to stay till the night. haha. (think of the batteries though)

Hi Vinze, fishing would be great but I won't have any gear with me, but I was thinking of hitting a tacle shop and maybe buying a new baitcasting reel.
Is there any place that you can hire rods and reels, is there a pond that you can fly fish?
Would really like to find out more about the fishing scene in S/pore cuz if I retire there I would miss fishing terribly.
