Honestly speaking yea, do consider a FZ50 for more DSLR like controls =) Image quality should par with FZ28 or FZ18. since they're more or less the same brand of lenses and sensors.

before i got my FZ18.. i was considering FZ50, but totally couldn't find it at tat time... best denki, havey norman, ms colour, alan photo... all dun have... so i tot its out of production at tat time 2nd hand also not much available i think... yea...
Really the size and weight difference is quite neglibible after awhile. FZ50 has zoom and focusing rings on the lenses, and 2 command dials. (somehow in terms of control its even better than my DSLR!) Of course it has shorter reach, but for some reason it has a bigger lens. It should still be in production, or just get 2nd hand anyways =) And it has hotshoe mount! You can actually throw on an external flash sometime if you like, really this is awesome =X I never learnt how powerful external flash is until now. Hah.
By the way, bigger sensor on the FZ50.

Yeah, no more 1st hand. I also try to find it before I bought FZ18. After I bought the camera already, the bloody garage sale got 3 people selling! :angry:

to top it off, FZ50 is Macro Friendly! I tried the camera before and my friend took pics of macro shots on it and its simply superb. But of course, its thanks to Leica lens and sensor that brings out the luminous colors in a Spider which other brand (which I dun wanna state) isnt capable of.
The smaller the sensor, the better macro it can get. But the bad thing is, Noise will be there as well.:cry:
FZ50 is neither that. since its sensor is solid for macro.

3x FZ50 going in the forum for 350-400... honestly I'm tempted to get one sometimes. Lol. I'm not sure if the BBB has really blown over me yet, haha.
Anyway, just like to share my new flash diffuser that I've made today. Actually its more of a flash re-focuser. I tried it, improves my flash power by up to 2/3 steps/stops. (without the diffuser veil). Probably use it as a tele flash diffuser or when doing wireless. Direct flash with this diffuser is still super harsh. Haha, because of the reinforcement I guess.
