This is a show-off shot of my lens' low light ability and my handholding skills ^^
Also to tempt Melvan into getting a DSLR

Exif: 1/30s, 85mm (136 equiv, i'm holding 4.5 times the recommended shutter! No IS at all!)
ISO 800 (noise control!) And tack sharp!

It may look bright, but its really dark there, taken around 8 at night? Looks like day only due to proper white balance :D

What do you need for a good picture?

1. Sharp eyes
2. Steady legs
3. Use flash in the day.

IMG_4447.jpg

Alternative interpretation of the picture

1. "please dont drop" look!
2. Darn scary posture!
3. Flash in the day?!?!

(by the way wheres the softbox diffuser?! would have been the right place to use. haha.)

oh yea... almost forgot... haha... in the end the photo without flash look better... just need to adjust the exposure...

anyway, nice pic of the canon girl... very well dressed and very daring position... haha

Haha, its just something you don't see everyday. A girl all dressed up, wearing hat even, carrying a handbag (or purse actually) + dSLR + trying to get a vantage point. Honestly I don't know what shes shooting because shes using kit lens in the dark... thought when you get such a position should be shooting tele. =X

Anyway skyguy's thinking naughty. haha:devil:

Hey Mr Ombre, you may be trying to lure my young step-son over to the dark-side and talk him into a DSLR, but I went with his older brother to Sim Lim and he came away with a FZ28:sticktong.
I am sure he will be joining the forum soon and may come on photo shoot outing also?

Oh yeah, I also got my DCR250 (from MS Colour) so watch out for dragonflys, bugs. creepy crawlies and all sorts of yucky things.

He has just complained to me that his ISO 80 on his H9 is noisy. And of course, I did confirm it. A shift to DSLR is inevitable for him now. =)

How much is the FZ28 by the way? Rob you should get advice before spending! Haha. Heard you bought other stuff too? How much was the Raynox anyhow?

Hey guys!

Ombre has successfully tempted me to join the Dark side T_T
Yeah my eldest brother has bought a FZ28 :P He might be joining us for the 4th january meeting :D

Hi ombre, yeah he is keen to move on to a DSLR, but he was instrumental in pointing his brother towards FZ 28, as did the salesman at MS Colour. He actually bought from Alan Photo and got a good deal on the camera which involved an second high speed 8Gb SD card so he gave me the 4 Gb card that came with the package.

My Raynox DCR 250 cost $120. Was happy to find one in Singapore after asking around at many shops in Sim Lim and getting no response. At Sim Lim plenty of salesmen tried to sell me other macro lens but they did not measure up to the Raynox in fact most were on par with my +10 close up filter. And they were trying to sell me these lens at $285, no way man, I may look like a cabbage but I am not that green.:p

Any decisions on venue for next outing?
Someone said Skyguy wants to try something exciting next-time like taking shots while hanging upside down from a trapeze and juggling two cats and a chainsaw all at once!

Please don't loosely use the term 'Dark Side'. That generally implies Nikon systems, and well, I'm using Canon! Haha.

And one more reason why you need to join Canon and not Alpha... look at your pics! They're all blurred due to handshake!

By the way FZ18/28 has Lens IS right? its a dual IS system?

Unfortunately, it seems that I've failed to lead him to the Canon camp, he's going to regret getting an Alpha200 I tell you!

Anyway, for the fast snail pic, you should have panned the snail to get motion blur instead of letting the snail blur =P

Or else use a rear curtain flash... you'll see a trail of motion blur behind the snail with a sharp snail at the end.

Yea it is a shame on the Singapore electronics dealers seriously. I thought we have an established retail industry until I got a camera and woah, Conmans on the street with shopfronts! Big ones too! I seriously have no idea why no one has done anything about it. Its a real shame.
