Thoughts on LEICA M ?

Damn sian hope they can change the plate for me.

Any bros here missing or lost a Leica M ? I was approached by a funny looking malay who offered me a Leica M. It came without lens and was in a brown Leica case. The more I spoke with him the more I think either he found it or maybe picked it off someone. PM me or email me @ jackattheblackpearl@gmail.com maybe i can help

Hi just got my M 10 days ago . Expensive yes but if you're a leicaphile it doesn't disappoint . I know what u mean .i have sold n bought back an M6 three times cos just felt naked without one

I have a M9 . The high iso performance of the M is significantly superior . Handling n feel is lovely. ergonomic controls . easy to use The live view focussing is an added bonus when I shoot in low light with the noctilux . There is also a video mode which I don't use . Overall painful on the pocket but great fun

Waiting for the R adaptor which is taking ages to come . With the EVF should open up great shooting opportunities with the R 19mm and 100 mm macro

Novoflex R to M adapter. Works well w/o being able to call out the R lens menu.

Got some cheaper R to M adapter earlier, absolute crab as I tried fitting....threw them aside.

Huh u got the leica R adaptor for e M already ??? Been waiting n waiting

pardon my ignorance
but is there any advantage/ disadvantage of the novoflex as compared to this elusive leica R adaptor?

Not sure what it brings, maybe activate some hidden functionality if it isn't enabled initially. On the other hand, I have no idea if the R lens profiles have already been enabled in the current firmware.

But quite frankly, I'm not seeing a substantial benefit over the novoflex adapters, which happen to be made in Germany anyway!

Novoflex adapters are well made (german made vs potugal made for Leica adapters) and cost 1/3 of Leica adapters. It can be coded as well if required.
I have both R to M adapter and C/Y to M adapter (for using my Contax / Yashica carl Zesis T* Lenses) on M240. However I will still buy the Leica adapter when it becomes available since I need one more for my APO 180mm Elmarit-R lens acquired recently. Only frustration is that it takes ages to be available. So I make do with sharing the Novoflex adapter for now.

Means novo flex adaptor may need coding but leica adaptor no need coding to use R lenses on M 240?

I have R 28-90 mm f2.8 , 79-180mm f2.8 , 19mm and 100mm micro f.8 all bout 10 yrs old . Can novo flex adaptor work with no coding ? Or shld I wait for th leica adaptor ? Tks . Appreciate your advice

Yes. The novoflex adapter is also used by many other Leica M240 users in the L-Camera forum.

Where can I buy RRS BM240 Set 2 (Base + BM9-Grip for Leica M240) and how much?

Only directly through RRS.

Luigi of leicatime has a new grip + baseplate replacement for the M240 that will be coming out -- the baseplate has doors to enable changing battery and memory card without the need to remove the whole baseplate. It will cost 420 euros, so I'm passing on that for now. As usual the website is very disorganized but you will find what I'm talking about.

I personally still prefers the RRS as it comes with the QR plates to mount on my tripods. I tend to have a small tabletop tripod whenever i bring my M system around.
