thinking of getting a canon

i guess i didnt state my initial intentions properly.
it is NOT because i cant seem to get nice skin tones from my d200.

as mentioned, i would just like to try out the canon system for portraiture, and also the userfriendliness and such.
of course, tweaking my d200 or correcting it with a gretagmacbeth card in PP will almost guarantee me a 99% hit.but that's aint the point.

allow me to use an analogy...if i have been driving a toyota,i just want to feel what a mazda feels like.
I understood your point from the beginning...just trying to question if the quest for colour is futile...

but if you want to test drive, then you should defintely try Olympus...they do have the best out of camera portrait colours from my experience :)

answer my damn PM ortegandalf.;(

btw, how come s5pro look so much like a nikon dlsr?:dunno:

but seriously, if they want to sell, they should do away with the fujifilm branding.
really makes the cam looked so cheapo(though i know specs look good).:dunno:

May be Nikon should get the sensor from Fujifilm. :)

actually i agree with ortega, wait for the s5 and u can use ur existing lenses. as for selling him cheap, that one u two discuss, none of my biz!

but back to topic, i think garion has probably given the best recommendation. :)

refer to post #75.
:sticktong :p

If only for portrait,i recon u get 5D.
I hav 3 body 20D,1Dm2 n 5D,but i like 5D most....happy shooting
3 bodies...ultimate dream lineup man!

:nono: I would probably go for test drive at the showroom... but wouldn't go to the extend of buying a mazda just fo feel how a mazda ride. ;p

But... I got the point...;)

I think you are already set in your mind to buy... just need some justifications for you to do so.

BC:)

Yep 1.6x , 1.3x and 1x crop.....wah!!!! RICH!!! RICH!!!

see?why not someone ask him to take course and learn from master because he has such good equipment?

or

asking him what he does for a living?

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

film will be nicer to capture nicer skin tones :D

I personally prefer Canon's interface, though Nikon is pretty intuitive as well. Do note that these 2 cameras are almost complete opposite, even the lens mount in the reverse direction. I think you'll be quite irritated at the start if you have to swap between 2 systems. Like many have said, D200 is somwhere in between 30D and 5D.

Actually, for your budget, maybe still can consider a used 1ds.

This is what a mazda feels like :bsmilie:
Sorry for the OT.

How about taking a PP course for less $ than augmenting with a Canon?

Well, let me pour some oil into this fire.

D200 and the 5D. I shot both recently. Same set in the studio, same lighting, same model, and then, outdoor, same location, same time, same settings.

I like one and I hate the other.

One has spot on AWB, one is off all the time, when comparing both shooting at ISO400, one is no problem and one is problematic, one is more contrasty than the other, and one has more vibrant colors, one is sharper then the other (similar/reputable lenses were used), and I love one and hate the other. :)

DP is a Canongrapher, not a Nikonian... I guess what he's trying to say is rather obvious already... And yes, D200 WB sometimes also screw big time even if you have expodisc in hand...

Why getting another system? Just stay faithful to the dark side!

No need to ask...

oh i forgot.
dummy me.he always whack me with his white lens.

wah dp, i mean d200 and 5d really sooooooo diff ah?and d200 really that bad ah?:dunno:
