There is no rank in ClubSNAP?

+1 :bsmilie: :bsmilie:A ranking system is probably only useful for a new forum wanting to generate traffic, so that forummers wanting to "rise above the ranks" will post a lot, creating an illusion.
CS is a relatively mature forum I guess, in terms of both age of existance and the community makeup (just look at all the senior citizens hanging around here), so no need for such fancy features.
Notwithstanding the "ClubSNAP Idol" rank, which I think is a comic relief!

i tink...no point fixing something tt ain broken....
no rank and CS is still here...wats the point rite...if u segregate members with rank.... we, regardless of being hobbyists or professionals or freelancers, all have one thing in common when we join photog forums, and tt is for the love of photogy..... i tink tt's more impt than wat eva rank ba....
however, i feel tt labelling new members is prob ok...coz at least we will know who is new to the forums....like tt then can take "special care" wat...aint it so...

I need to clarify that the "ClubSNAP Idol" was meant to be a trick played on me by some Mods and the Admin Team and this happened earlier in the year.
Well it's a long story and I choose to not to bore any of you.
Speaking of the 'ranking' system, I used to be regular @ HWZ forums and it was then I found myself (couldn't help it) in this pursuit of making as many posts as possible (mostly relevant ones) so as to bump up my status. Soon I realised ... what for? Believing that people will respect/honour me because of my high rank/post counts? Have I 'become superior' because of the new found status? Do I need a tiny row of text and a 5 or more digit numbers to show others what I am actually made of? Surely I got better things to do right? All it needs is to first move my butt away from my PC ... :bsmilie:

everything in Singapore must have a rank?
schools, restaurants, hawker centres, public toilets, cab transport, insurance, banks... not forgetting ARMY, POLICE etc..
now the 'ranking madness' has spread over to my beloved Clubsnap??
with the recent hooha, i'm just thankful that i get to post and participate in ClubSnap, never mind the 'ranking'. :bsmilie:

I think it's pretty much a guy thing to see himself having a bigger number than others...bigger is better...lens and camera inclusive...haha...
Me think CS dun need any ranking system! Joining earlier or later doesn't make us a better photographer! It's the learning and practising that counts! ;p
But if need to have ranking, I propose the following based on no of posts:
1-100 less than 1 mth - New Member
1-100 more than 1 mth - Not so new Member
101 - 500 - Quiet Member
501 - 1000 - Chit Chatty Member
1001 - 5000 - Talkative Member
5001 - 10000 - Loh Soh Member
10001 - 20000 - Non-stop No need Sleep Chatterbox Member
20001 & above - Kopitiam Super Ah Pek Guru! (Sit in kopitiam, drink kopi and tok non -stop loh.. wad else rite? :devil: )
