Pentax FA50 F1.4

One of the best IQ lens in Pentax's line up.
Pros:
-Wee bit soft and with a creamy/dreamy bokeh that complements shooting wide open.
-Deadly sharp stopped down.
-Has aperture ring, relatively compact
-Cheap

Cons:
-Screw Driven, slow compared to canon's usm version. Not suitable for anything fast moving
-Plastic body, feels a wee bit cheap. Not WR

Excellent portrait lens overall

With results like those, you can convince me to buy an empty beer bottle and use it as the lens :D

Wow.. excellent works with the FA50!!!!!

Hope the AF will be faster on the new pentax FF? lolx

I think I was thinking of BKK too much. :D

FA77ltd, certainly the most unique offering there is out there.
A fast short tele the size of most brand's 50mm lens.

Plan a BKK Motorshow outing for Pentax!!! a 3 day 2 night just for car show. hahahaha.. hope the trip is after our FF is out would be best.

Its this or Bali.

I doubt FF will be out and on our hands this early.

A50/2, very compact, which is so attractive as a travel lens.
I have not tried the DA50/1.8.
If its really the same optics as the 50/1.7 but with rounded aperture, it may well be one of the best 50mm ever (and I have tried quite a few)

Not sure if there is any motorshow during November though. hee..

Pentax has a wide array of high quality lens from wide angle to macro and telephoto. Here is an example of the versatility of the A 100 f/2.8 macro lens. This lens is one of the sharpest macro lens manufactured by Pentax, sharp even when at wide open.

Results certainly look good. :)
I should try out your A100/2.8 macro one of the days.

The downside of my F100/2.8 is that its an AF lens and has a very 'lossey' MF damping.
I do love the AF limiter switch though.

I just purchased SMC M 50/1.7 lens.

Eyeballing the 20... :)

Still no body yet.

Congrats!

The 50/1.7, is small, well made, cheap and good.

The 20mm?
If its the M20/4, this is a gem and a very unique offering indeed.
So small, that its easily taken along at any time.

In general, Photographers uses 50mm , 85mm or 135mm for portraits. I find that the 100mm is also versatile for portraits. Here is a sample of the flexibility offered by the 100mm macro lens to shoot both Macro and Portraits. Its good to bring it along whenever one travels, as it can achieve 2 objectives. Will need to bring it out more.. ;)

Hmm.. Don't have a K28/ 3.5.

manage to get a K28/2.. it's bigger and not so compact as the K28/3.5
Think for the F2.. then you have to lose out on size.

Some pictures during recent SG Motorshow 2016

There is talk about the 28m ... well here is my contribution. M 28mm f/2.8 .

In general, I dun have an major issue with the IQ from this lens. Good on FF, and best of all its small ( easy to put into your pocket ) and cheap .

The size of the K28 /3.5 and M28 / 2.8 , is there much difference?

You have the 'Hollywood' lens?

The K28/3.5 isn't small either considering its a f3.5.
Very hefty too for the f-stop.
But still small considering many other brand stuff.
I read before that this lens was originally sold at a higher price than the f2.8 and supposedly better aimed at a higher end .
Its bigger than the M28/2.8 which is a tiny lens.
IIRC, it might be rather close in size to the K28/3

M28/2.8 is almost pancake.
I would have got one to play with if not for my long time aversion to the 28mm focal length. (burned out shooting it on film)

Takumar 58/2
One of my favourite 50mm.
Not the best technically, but it certainly gives something a bit different.
Tiny for an SLR 50mm (the smallest I've come across in fact), very well made.
The only only Sonnnar 50mm lens for the SLR.
