I don't think we need to wait 4-6 months for the price to normalize, Nikon will be torn to move inventory by normalizing the price as fast as possible as it is Christmas season or risk to lose sales, either die hard will hang on to the purchase and buy other toy instead of camera or those sitting on the fan will just switch camp as this is the time of the year adult are shopping for their toys
Chances are Canon will drop price on their 60D soon, usual tactic but it always work, i.e. hanging on to high price for a hot product will not do Nikon good for their sales over the Christmas season. D7000 is a volume product for Nikon unlike D300s and D700, so the name of the game is inventory turn. My two cents opinion![]()
That is because it comes with kit lens for D7000.
D300s is body only.
Hopefully D7000 one day will do without kit lens..
Than I think will be a good buy.
How much is the price of kit lens 18-105 VR ? Should be around $300 right ?
$2200 - $300 = $1900 for body only, still too expensive for a D7000.
But Nikon is notorious for having their stuff out of stock, so lowering the price doesn't really help boost sales if they can't even churn out cameras fast enough.
After reading some of your post here. I confirm that not all people like D7000 over D300s. Mainly because they like the weight of D300s.![]()
If d7000 is $19xx then it is too close to d300s at $21xx??![]()

If price is the important factors to choose the desired product, then it's another story.
Regardless the price, I still feel that D300s is better than D7000.![]()
its all boils down to the person thinking and needs...
if u need newer technologhy, good high iso output, hd video, go ahead with the d7000 and it comes with a reasonable price too...
but if u prefer, a heavier body but it feels good to hold, 51 af points, the diff user bank u can set to up to four mode... d300s is the way.... and its also reasonable in the 2nd market...
D300s is still faster to operate and use
D7000 had high ISO
Not only better ergonomics, 51 AF points, higher fps, etc. etc. (as shown in the first page of this thread), there is other important factor: Focusing Speed. I have compared D90 and D300s. Not sure with D7000.
The Focusing Speed (other than the center point) of D300s definitely put this camera in the higher league above others DX body.
Until now, only EOS 7D could match the focusing speed of D300s for DX category.

been wanting to test it out on a d300s/d7000 as my 85mm has shown vast improvement on d700. wonder if d300/d300s will be able to match that AF speed attained on D700.
btw, since mostly of u are discussing d300s, may i ask if d300 is still in the picture now? :sweatsm: and if there's any peeps who tried it, is D300s having a better refined AF than D300?
