My rather feeble, handheld attempt...oh, how can I resist the urge to moon a forum's worth of people? ;p Anyone knows what is this pinkish noise on the picture - camera/technique problem? I used 350D, a 2x extender and 70-200mm. Will reshoot.

What is the iso setting u use?

Hi Weixing,

I don't think there's a need to stack moon shots as a bit of USM will bring out a lot of details already. I find that that level of sharpness looks very unnatural to me.

Just me 2 cents. :)

Did I over do it?? I find it's still ok leh... Ha ha ha ;p

Anyway, IMHO, for lunar and planetary imaging, usually a compact camera can produce better single shot result than most DSLR... focusing is easier and no moving part.

I try a few single shot for Moon before, but are quite blur due to the mirror moving and the long tube of my refractor just make the vibration worse.

Have a nice day.

Urm...ar...ok, I will admit, ISO 1600. Was trying handheld IR earlier and forgot to change.:embrass:Thanks for solving the mystery of the pink dots on moon. :bsmilie:

Hi .. need advise on this 'moon' .. tried using AF and MF, but it doesn't seems to look
'sharp'? especially 6 - 9 oclock section .. using 75-300mm / 100% crop .. thanks

i'll be surprised if you can. singapore can easily fit into one of those small sized craters, so how big do you think the moon is?

here is mine taken with the s3is.. f5.6 1/100

haha did any of u guys catch the recent parital eclipse on sept 7?.

For the S3, shoot at f4.0. Gives slightly sharper images. Is it not wonderfull to have such a long focal length on a P&S? :)

really? i tot 5.6 was like the best for large appature and small appature

Lovely Moon images everyone, i have been taking images of the moon for a couple of years now using many different ways. I find most rewarding is the use of a Telescope and Webcam(for close ups) here is a pic with 2 images stitched together.

Camera:Toucam Pro Webcam
Telescope: 5" F.9 Refractor
Mount:EQ6 Duel Axis Driven Mount

Hope you like it.

PS:I am new to the forum so if my image size is too big please let me know and i will adjust it accordingly .
