A little soft but Mare Crisium can be clearly seen at Day 4.

Actually, when the moon is full, the details of the craters are lost as the moon is too bright.

So, you've been shooting without a tracking mount ? WOW !!! I should see your setup - the tripod and the head. Wonder what's the maximum weight that it can take. I am looking at a combi that I can use when travelling, so that I only need to take my C6 - without carrying the huge tripod and tracking mount and all the accessories.

what software did you use to stack the images ?

there is always a faster shutter speed to compensate for bright objects.

i've personally tried using Registax for stacking astronomy images and the results are pretty decent

rc1q2w3e4r, how did you achieve this depth of field that produce sharp pic for the flat and moon?
Care to share?

Oh this was a composite photo of 2 shots merged into one. Hope it did not confuse too many ;)

The metering is also impossible for a single shot.

Another Christmas moon. Merry Christmas all!

Cropped.jpg

Taken with 300mm F4 with 2 x TC

I cropped the 2nd pic.

Here's mine from Jan 21, 08
99% waxing, 200mm, 2x converter, f/8, 200 ISO, Auto WB, 1/500s, on a tripod using the timer.
Only thing done to it was auto tone in PS and presence in LR.

I tried several settings from ISO 100-400, f/5.2-f/8, various SS, and this is thew best I could get.
Guess I would need a stronger glass to do better???

Looks like you guys prefer a B&W moon. :dunno:

Nostalgic? Or CA problem? If you shoot the moon right at the centre of the frame and crop aggressively, should there be any CA problem?

Clear Skies on 17 Feb 08 made me set up again.
