The Mac Thread (Apple related Stuff)

SLS over at sim lim is not too bad. actually the prices of MB dun vary too much cos apple SG controls the prices.

my personal fav is still to go to epicentre (either wheelock or suntec). you buy a MB there, you get to sign up as an epicentre member for discounts. lemme know if you are going to epicentre at wheelock? i got a fren working there as a part-timer. :)

i believe you mean SGL Marketing

Hi there Guys

Does any 1 in here knows of any software to shirnk pic needed when sending these big pic files ???

I know that for Windows.... We can use Shrink Pics and that will automatically shrink your pics when sending it thru email...:think:

Pls share your thoughts as I have difficulties looking for 1....cheers

Merry Christmas....

Just double click to open the picture.
Then menu bar -> Tools - >Adjust Size.
Then when you save, you can choose the compression and file format.

I think it works for multiple files if you select them all and change the size one shot.

Hi Parka

what size do you normally resize it too?/?

Will it have any effects when sending it out for printing?/?

Am using 24mp-Somy a900, so that's quite a big file to keep huh hehehehehe :dunno::o

i got a question... my mac msn went kuku one me...

hmm, wanna give another programme a try? Adium? didn't really like mac msn..

they do ah. the other one is south-asia computers at funan, IIRC.

i like their membership thingy tho cos the discounts for members are not too bad. stupid of me not to buy my MB from them and got it at some roadshow at funan by another retailer, which gave me grief... :mad2:

very weird leh. whenever i wanted to buy my macs (bought 4 macs now), i always ask if they got the edu discounts and they'll always say no and they can't offer that but apple sg online can do that.. so ended up always buying from apple sg online. yes i agree on the membership part. but buy ipod also can have! :p

no need grief la, next mac, can buy from them if they still offer! :gbounce:

Just resize to the size you want to print, at 300 dpi.

A 4 by 6 inch photo is around only about 2.1MP at that resolution (less than 10% of your 24MP Sony photo).

Anyone upgraded the ram sticks for your MBP before here? What brand did you use? I was thinking of putting in a 500gb WD hard disk and upgrading the rams to 4gb.

you can actually open up your MBP and see wat brand of RAM was given to you. just buy back the same brand. apple, for better or worse, is quite picky abt the brand of RAM it uses.

Wah you old school already la boss. Keke... Anyway, I am looking for Mac Pro Nehalem owners to ask for feedback regarding sound and Flash issues. My Mac Pro CPU jumps from 38 deg C to 65 deg C just by listening to music on iTunes. Visiting Flash websites will also spike the CPU. Crazzzyyy! Something is really not quite right with my machine...

Tech Support is totally unaware of such issues and kept saying its within specs. (My ass) ;p

can try searching the apple discussion forums for similar cases. in the meantime get smcfancontrol and bump up the fan speed.

Already did. Apparently, Mac Pro Nehalem has problems with audio playback and CPU overheating. Crapz.

Apple uses the Hynix brand

yeah i believe germ_boi is right. just wanna see if there's any other brands of rams that other forumers have used here, that is working perfectly with their MBPs.

works fine for you?

picasa 3 can resize and add copyright text, maybe can do watermark also. don't think it can do borders though.

if you use apple aperture, you can get borderfx to add borders and some exif or copyright text.
