The Mac Thread (Apple related Stuff)

Tried internet tethering on my spanking new iPhone 3Gs. Starhub 3G network is ok ok only la. Sometimes fast, sometimes doesn't even load anything. I am beginning to feel that Starhub is offering more than what they can deliver.

agree... Starhub really disappoints. i switched to their MaxOnline from Singnet ADSL for the same speed and really regretted. now, can't wait for the 2-year contract to be up.

welcome to the true life. Anyway its know for Starhub's connection to be slower than Singnet. Just live with it for the mean time and convert back to Singnet when contract finish.

Thinking of buying a IMac, but never owned any Apple products before. Just like to confirm, is the price for IMacs or Macbooks fixed islandwide - or can you go Sim Lim and buy at a cheaper price. I get the impression that the price is fixed...

Anyone can advise would be great. Thanks.

price is fixed.

if want cheaper... can purchase via student price or browse for refurbished Macs (if you don't mind older models).

maybe you can try purchasing from the airport... no GST charged. but you need a boarding pass to access the shops inside.

Thanks bro. I noticed there's a Edu option where you can purchase for like $100 cheaper (Apple Store Online Sg), like anyone can use that, not sure if any verification process

SAF unwritten rule: do anything but don't get caught. if the delivery guy requests identification when the goods are delivered, good luck.

Anyone knows where to get the Apple PCI-E graphics card power cable locally? SGL Marketing dont keep stock. Thanks!

The delivery guy is from the delivery company, not Apple. Probably won't be bothered, or can't even tell the authenticity of the verification.

all goes down to one's integrity then...;)

... Is there any way I can disable the 2wire wireless and use all wireless connection through the TC? I...
I would rather keep the wireless on the 2wire. I have it configured to be wireless-b/g so that I can connect PSP, iPhone, iPod Touch, and others. On my TC, I have it configured to be wireless-N only, at 5 ghz. Computers (Mac and Win) are all connected to TC via wireless or wired.

SLS over at sim lim is not too bad. actually the prices of MB dun vary too much cos apple SG controls the prices.

my personal fav is still to go to epicentre (either wheelock or suntec). you buy a MB there, you get to sign up as an epicentre member for discounts. lemme know if you are going to epicentre at wheelock? i got a fren working there as a part-timer. :)

that's why i said it varies mah. btw, not sure if epicentres are still giving out edu discounts. saw some postings/threads a while around here which mentions they no longer offer.

Hi there Guys

Does any 1 in here knows of any software to shirnk pic needed when sending these big pic files ???

I know that for Windows.... We can use Shrink Pics and that will automatically shrink your pics when sending it thru email...:think:

Pls share your thoughts as I have difficulties looking for 1....cheers

Merry Christmas....

stuffit

or use jpeg compression to shrink the size of the file

they do ah. the other one is south-asia computers at funan, IIRC.

i like their membership thingy tho cos the discounts for members are not too bad. stupid of me not to buy my MB from them and got it at some roadshow at funan by another retailer, which gave me grief... :mad2:
