before you guys villify Caleb or say that he has anything to do with it,
i would like to point out that he might be being used to stir up the viewership.
anyways, boo to the producers :bsmilie:
Careful with yr words.

I noticed that too! She's either former classmate or fervent Brooks Institute supporter? Caleb's speciality is supposedly Documentary/Reportage style, and while his choice of subject might be pretty good, the judges did rightly (IMO) point out on the busy-ness of the background, the tilt and why didn't he just choose a better angle to frame the subject betterBtw, not sure if anyone noticed a certain Diane Lundgren commenting non-stop on how much she loves Caleb's shots.
If you click on her profile, it says "Studied Portraiture at Brooks Institute" (Caleb has mentioned on many occasions that he studied there) and her friends list includes Caleb.
Just pointing out something I just noticed.![]()
The problem with Caleb's shot is the skin tone... There is a visible tinge of magenta/red. Subtle perhaps but there.
Also there is just too much useless space on the right.
Yeap. I just watched the replay, his shot was totally out of theme and I was stoned for awhile after knowing he not been eliminated.

I was hoping that he chose the skeleton to depict the "dangerous" portion. Then his pic would hv been very impactful.
P.S. what? One of the judges commented about the inappropriateness of shooting landscape theme shots in portrait orientation? Now I gotta check out who said this gem.
I think the comment was given based on the landscape shot being very tight (it was a a guy standing on some rubble). Could have worked better with a landscape orientation.
Cheesecake said:from my understanding of what the judge had said and what some of them had agreed upon is that portrait orientation for landscape theme is not landscape fotography.
i might be wrong thus, can someone verify if this was what transpired?

portrait photography cannot have landscape orientation.

haha ,,,,, you missed the major flaw, it was supposed to be a landscape shot, and he did it in a portrait :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:If I was one of the judges, I would say that Fauzi's shot could have been framed better, simply by cropping away the man and the foreground into a landscape orientation. Mount Merapi, faintly seen in the background, is dangerous in the destruction in can wreak (destroyed house and lava in the foreground), yet beautiful in its majestic grandeur and lush verdant setting (middle ground and background).

Caleb's shot, on the other hand, missed the theme totally and needed a total reshoot.
