hi i just bot a 450d too .m interested to take macro shot.can recommend which lens i shd get 1st?

i intend to get the EF 100mm f2.8 once i saved up. ;)

Ok, going down to Funan later....will check out at Challengers (i saw a few displayed unit there last week).

I think it is probably better to think ahead and get a 40L/50L one if you are more likely to buy more lens than not, otherwise you will be stuck with a 30L box after you upgrade. Maybe cheaper this way also.

Went to Challenger yesterday....the Digi dry cabinet price from $150 - $500. Is this the normal price?

No, you cannot re-charge any battery (AA nor Li-ion) with the battery grip (BG-E5)... you'll have to use the relevant battery charger.

The battery grip is not that heavy, and it is also helpful to balance body against longer / heavier lens. The beauty of it is you can choose not to use battery grip at times when you want a very light setup to bring along.

for those using 2 canon batteries, how do you all charge the battery?
as i assume you will only have 1 battery charger that comes with the body.
or u buy another charger?

Yea wait for one of the batteries to finish charging, then charge the other one ;)

Depends on capacity. Why don't you take a trip down to John 3:16? They deal in a local brand called Digi-Cabi, which sells for very reasonable prices for all capacities.

For most photography things in general, I'd suggest avoiding megastores like Challenger, Best Denki etc.

how long does it need to charge complete?
cause usally when i charge batteries, offen just left it overnite, esp when travelling (on tour). then would result in 1 charged, i not charged ;/

About 2-3 hours.

You can always get 2 chargers :P

I try to make it a point only to recharge when it's dead, which is why it's good to have a spare. However, Li-Ion batteries have no memory effect, so if you need a full-charge the next day, but your battery isn't flat yet, there's no harm in charging it.

just be careful:
lithium batts shd not be allowed to go dead flat. this damages the batt. a dead flat batt may show symptoms like not charging (problem LED or no response) until 30 minutes later.
too many times and the batt is spoilt.

Digi-Cabi, this is the same brand i saw at Challenger. John 3:16 is always crowded when i walked past. Probably bcos their price are good - maybe will pop-by one of these days. :D

got my 36L from John @ $116. I think Carrefour selling @ $148 then. Samuel of John 13:6 is always busy but he can multitask, don't worry just ask him - he switches freq very fast:bigeyes:
