Not shot on a 450D, but on a 40D with the same lens. This lens is very sharp.

yah. i mean 30, 60, 80 etc...

The DB-036 is a 36L cabinet on paper IIRC, but effective volume is 30L. I have one and there's a sticker on the front that said something like that (it peeled already).

My 40D is getting famous. =D

I'm actually at a dilemna with what to do with my 18-55 IS. It's so good that I don't wish to replace it with one of Tamron's or Sigma's zooms and Canon's own higher end zooms are so much more expensive, so I'm reduced to buying lenses that complement it instead. ;)

err ... sorry i dun feel the image is very sharp leh, or my expectation is too high?

i shoot my photo in jpg output, wonder is it the cause? as i have not try out raw yet.
also do we need to adjust the shaprness setting in the camera, or just use the default settings?

here is 1 of my shot http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4267621&postcount=478 in full jpg size. Only edit done with CS is the border, else all is untouch.

i mean those r the better ones. :embrass: i just started with DSLR (this camera) n manual mode for like ard 3 wks only. at least i find that there is quite a big improvement in the quality of what i have compared to my initial shots with this camera. still trying to improve my skills n experimenting for better results. ;)

ur picture is definitely much better than mine. :embrass:

Nothing much to do with the camera. It's probably not the camera's fault at all, in fact. I do believe I was shooting JPG with standard sharpness (+3?, alternatve correct me if I'm wrong).

Firstly, shutter speed is too slow - that means that the slightest shake will be obvious, and that translates to a blur image.

Secondly, what's up with blocking the flash? :dunno:

what is the settings for that photo? any tripod used?

It was shot handheld. 1/13s, f/5.6, 55mm, ISO 800

It is that sharp when used properly. 90% of the time, blur images are the fault of the one behind the viewfinder, not the tool being used to capture the image.

actually i am not blocking the flash, but "bounce" the flash light up, so that light dun directly hit the subject, to create a more natural light enviroment. din use tissue paper or bounce card as its int flash unit.

i agree with your other statement mentioning offen fault lies with the one behind the camera ;)

its my 2nd day with 450d ;p

...

So you used....your hand?!

Your hand is hardly the right device if you're looking to bounce your flash upwards. At the very least, you will need something that flat and white (white cardboard works well here). Why do you think people use bounce cards that are white, and not their hands?

The 36L comes with 2 shelf. The lowest level is a sponge with 5 grooves, I guess for 5 lens. Each shelf can easily accommodate 2 or 3 camera and may be more. I think the problem with storage is not so much of the camera body but with the lenses as more likely to buy new lenses than new camera body.

yar i agree, but i have not diy the bounce card or diffuse box yet
so use hand ;p

Dude, it won't work at all. You are effectively just blocking the flash, not bouncing it.

here is another try on the kit lens.

click to for enlarge view.

i noticed when i view in full, the image do not looks sharp.
but when i reduce the image to 1/4, it seems not bad.

and i just find out that CS is able to upload images ;p

Look at the Center portion of the picture, near the D. That is the most obvious part that is in focus and sharp. Edge to edge sharpness across the frame is not possible here as the lens was held close to the subject and it was handheld.

Correct, standard sharpness was used.

Dude....

This photo looks perfectly sharp to me, blown up to the max size CS allows. Either you're viewing at a much higher magnification, or it's time to visit your family optician. :)
